George W. Bush went to Yale. Does that change your opinion of him? And Harvard. He's the only President to attend and graduate from both Harvard and Yale. He has a B.A. from Yale, and he earned an M.B.A. from Harvard. Also the only President to earn an M.B.A. I'm not just saying this b/c of his degrees: You can dislike him as a President, and sure, his constant misspeaking at public events didn't help (N.B. public speaking is a skill, and not a measure of intellect), but GWB was not stupid. The whole media perception that he was/is an idiot is flat out wrong. Also, as a side note, intellect doesn't dictate a good president. Look at Jimmy Carter. Look at Barack Obama. Now Look at Ronald Reagan.......

Nothing guarantees a good President. I'd include Woodrow Wilson and JFK among highly educated Presidents. And they were pretty good. And I wasn't insinuating that Bush is dumb. I think that got overplayed a bit.

Where the feck did this politics talk come from? George W. Bush went to Yale. Does that change your opinion of him? oh yeah I should have guessed Because someone made the point that Andy attended Oxford, and was an intellectual and therefore has no reason to lie. NL4E countered with G.W. Bush, because he wanted to know if him having a degree from Yale (and Harvard), would change his opinion. There in saying that degree doesn't count toward you being liar, or innocent, or smart, dumb, or infallible.

There in saying that degree doesn't count toward you being liar, or innocent, or smart, dumb, or infallible. Being a supporter of Bush, and thinking college degrees do matter, yes. But it was a rhetorical response knowing that most don't rate Bush, so I wanted to show BEU was being silly and hypocritical (should he support the notion that Bush is stupid) by pointing out that Andy went to Oxford. Essentially: BEU is checkmated if he calls Andy smart for the lone reason of him attending Oxford, but at the same time labeling Bush as stupid despite going to Yale. You can't have it both ways. Maybe Guigs should think more about the context before he jumps in to criticize. My post actually made a salient rhetorical point.
