I'm a huge noel fan like everyone else on this site and have been since DM. I love about 90% of his tracks. I remember hearing him say in an interview once, around the time of BHN, and he mentioned that if he ever did do a solo album, it would be a double, with every influence from aretha franklin to the stooges to the stone roses on it. After hearing the first single and the Bside, (love the single, b side is ok for a b side) i worry a bit that noel isn't being as ambitious as he should be. With the high flying birds, it seems like we will get a bunch of songs that would have made it onto the last few oasis albums had the rest of the band not been contributing. This is fine, i want to hear them. Which brings me to the double album due out next year. This is the album I have been waiting for..his true solo record, with all of his influences....but then he goes and gives it to a producing duo that he admits didn't let him have a lot of say in his own record (mojo interview) . I just really wish he would have found a producer that was less intrusive. I like the AA albums, but i don't want them making noel's record just another one in their string of massive bubble releases. Thoughts?

This thread is pointless, you haven't heard either of his albums yet...

i am just wondering if anyone has the same thoughts (or worries) as me, especially after reading that the AA "weren't really down with other peoples ideas"..it's a thread about speculation, so sure it's pointless, but half the threads in here are based upon specualtion. Thanks for posting a pointless reply though.

trust me, i'm giving him a chance. i'm not even that worried, i was just wondering if anyone else is concerned about the amount of input from AA and the lack of input from Noel.

I think he was overstating the AA thing for comic effect.
At the end of the day it was his project. He could have pulled the plug on it at any time. They were his songs. I think it's more likely that they would have forced him to grow a little bit musically...and that can't be a bad thing.
I'm not concerned. As for the HFB being leftovers. The only ones that we know were around before DOYS was recorded were RM and STC. The other 2 that we know about we heard in sound checks on the tour. Those could have been some of those written during the mixing or written on tour in which case they aren't cast off's from Oasis. They may never have been considered for contribution.
Basically we know 2/10 of the tunes were around the Oasis camp for at least 1 record. Saying it's just cast offs is overstating IMO. Although I think that some of them might be tunes that had originally going to have been their 7th album before Sardy convinced them to change direction. Wouldn't be surprised if TDOYAM was one of those.
