TGR Reminds me of a slightly more 'rockin' version of '(Probably) All In The Mind', definitely sounds like it was produced around the time of Heathen Chemistry, the drumming is more than likely Noel, but sounds quite similar to Alan White's style/sound. Really wouldn't be surprised if Gem plays guitar on it somewhere though.

TGR sounds like a better produced version of PAITM and with Noel on vocals.

TIOBI is mostly the demo, but with a replacement drum track by Zak and mixed by Sardy. The liner notes to DBTT say 'Written and produced by Noel Gallagher', and recorded at Wheeler End.

I think it might have been something lying around recorded in the HC era. He might have had to go back that far to find something Gem wasn't on the recording of. Surely if Noel would have asked Gem, Gem would have said okay to putting it out? I mean, it's not like Liam can stop Gem going and helping Noel... And Noel and Liam, although they hate each other, they still respect each other professionally... So surely they just see it as working with another person in the industry, not an enemy??? And after all, Noel said the High Flying Birds are just whoever happens to be about at the time... So I can't see a reason Gem couldn't be involved with it...

I was thinking more about the financial repercussions. I'm sure they would be perfectly fine with it personally. And not even so much that Noel couldn't afford it but more about trying to decide how to divide the income. After all it is Noel's song. But at the time of the demoing Gsm would have been under the impression that they would have been sharing the royalties as members of the same band and would not have been paid for his time.
Now that a recording is being released under a new band there would have to be discussion about what would be fair to Gem. A discussion involving men whose purpose would be to ensure that each person was fairly recompensed. Retrospectively pay him as a session musician? Give his a small portion of the proceeds of the single as he is on half of the tunes and that would have been the implied understanding at the time of recording?
That's all I meant about it being easier to just find a demo Gem wasn't on and use that rather than one that Gem was all over. Particularly since it's just a b-side. It would hardly be worth the effort IMO
Money talk can strain the strongest of relationships. And I'm sure that the Gem Noel relationship isn't the strongest it's ever been.
