I found this quick review of TDOYAM in this week's edition of Entertainment Weekly.
"The more talented Oasis sibling bakes his Beatles obsession into a country-tinged magic pie and serves it with a side of street-jazz horns. Sweet melodics offset the empty calories of the lyrics. B+"

Annoying and pretentious writing. Fair grading though, but I'd stress that it's a high B+ more toward the 89.5 than 87.5.

Fair rating but don't agree with most of the description

the song's not bad, not great. a B+ is overrating it a bit imo but....
this is EW we're talking about anyways. For those of you not living in the U.S., that magazine is a complete joke.

Wonder if magic pie was an intentional pun here....?

Sounds like The La's on drugs doing The Kinks - NOT The Beatles.

Describing Noel's lyrics as empty seems very lazy to me. Think there's some decent content in the lyrics.

empty calories of the lyrics. B+" [/b][/quote] bet these are the kind of people that give a certain artist that rhymes "p diddy" and "city" and "bottle of jack" and "coming back" a 100% rating!! idiots

The American press has never been able to let go of the Beatles comparisons of 1995-1996. It seems like every single review in every US publication has to drop the Beatles comment in there. I just don't get it. I've heard Noel mention Neil Young more often than the Beatles since 1996. That never gets mentioned. Even the Kinks have been mentioned a ton. Lazy journalism at it's worst.

Typical lazy Beatles reference despite it sounding fuck all like The Beatles.
I agree that it's B+.

EW is a nice publication. Seem more fair than your RS.
the magic pie wasn't a pun I don't think... they are probably too stupid to know it's a song he wrote
B+ hits it on the head i think, the review was pretentious

Country-tinged? I don't feel that at all. TDOYAM is absolutely 100% post-2000 Noel Gallagher.

typical american review but good to see a nice rating but EW is usually rather easy on the ratings if I recall correctly
