Inspired by shakeyourragdoll's post I thought it would be nice to make a list of bands Noel likes or dislikes. I guess it would be interesting just to count the newer bands, because we all know that he likes the Beatles, The Stones, The Who,... (Are there any classics he doesn't like by the way?) I'm gonna start with the bands he likes: Arctic Monkeys (the early stuff?), The Coral, Kings Of Leon, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Courteeners, Jet, MGMT (I remember he said so in some interview), Coldplay, Kasabian (thanks to deasy55 ) Glasvegas The Killers The Zutons Feel free to add someone to the list!

Likes: Hawkwind, Aphrodite's Child.
Just from the top of my head.
Oh, you said "newer" bands. Sorry then...
I don't know if you can call these bands new anymore but he likes The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, Mando Diao and even The Hives, I think. If I remember right I've read that in an interview some years ago, anyway. Maybe he likes Tame Impala too.

Likes or dislikes? A bit of both, that's why I was deliberately ambiguous. Publicly, he'll say they're shite in order to continue his pathetic, petty public feud with Liam alive (even though the younger brother is willing to forgive and forget). In private, he'll appreciate the true genius spread across the thirteen classics. Grudgingly, though; Noel cannot even say to himself that the time-spanning brilliance of DGSS is the best album since Definitely Maybe.

All the classic artists he likes are all spot on, but his taste in modern bands are questionable - very hit and miss.
And, as pointed out in the rock n roll section, he hates the Beach Boys for some unknown reason.
So even Noel can get it horribly wrong aswell.

he definitely likes U2 and the Chili Peppers. Or maybe it's just that he respects them a whole lot.

Do you have a quote or something? there was an article/youtube vid in this site's very newsroom some months ago with Noel comparing Oasis to the Rolling Stones, U2 and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. he didn't necessarily say he liked the Red Hot Chili Peppers but i think that could be alluded too. and come on, any red-blooded human being should have at least an appreciation for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Flea's one of the best bassist's ever. think about it. aloha.

Nothing wrong with liking the RHCP. They have brilliant songs, but I thought Noel could have had something against the rap-parts in some of them I remember Noel commenting on the Gorillaz-song "Feel Good Inc.". He said that he liked the parts where Damon Albarn was singing, but that he couldn't stand the rap-parts.
