Is there an Oasis item that you own that is worth its weight in gold? Or something that you treasure? Just curious to see what's out there...
My most valued Oasis item would be the 2006 Japanese CD reissue of WTSMG. For some reason, when STC came out and Japan re-released their previous six albums in LP-like sleeves, WTSMG was the only one that they remastered and the sound is pristine. Listening to it was like listening to the album for the first time all over again. And now, it's out of print.

Great topic makebelieve!
It may not be worth a lot of money, but a promo poster for the DOYS tour gig in my hometown of Winnipeg - something I never thought I'd see but always dreamed of - would be my most prized piece of Oasis memorabilia. Got it framed and all. All that's missing is the setlist, which I sadly do not have.
My most valuable would probably be the fan club Masterplan 7x 10" record box set. Makes sense, especially seeing as The MAsterplan is my favourite album.

don't know anything's current money value, but got quite a few bits that are worth 'things' to me - one side 12" columbia, ditto Champagne Supernova (Lynch Mob Remix), a weird live cd that's printed mirror-image on body, chicago I think? Most of the important stuff is in the head though, knebworth, seeing noel do his solo bit onstage for the first time at hammy palais, the crowd singing 'live forever' off the intro drumbeat at milton keynes (even noel looked taken aback at that one).
good things, as they say!

The Definitely Maybe demos that Paul Ashbee gave to me.
The Mustique demos come a close runner-up.

The remastered vinyl box set from 2009. Now worth more than I payed for it! I have that box too. What's it worth nowadays? Just curious. I don't gonna sell it. Someone remember who many copies of that box they released? I can't remember. Can't remember what I paid for it either. Was it something around £100?

The remastered vinyl box set from 2009. Now worth more than I payed for it! Does anyone know - Were the CDs remastered/enhanced on Warner Brothers when they were rereleased in 2008/2009? According to Amazon, WTSMG is enhanced and the sound quality on the widgets sound is a definite improvement. Even the songs on DM sound better.

I have the DOYS Limited Edition Box Set, but my most cherished piece was giving to me by an ex-girlfriend:
Gig card, with list of all the bands playing signed by Oasis (whole band) from Coachella 2002.

According to Amazon, WTSMG is enhanced and the sound quality on the widgets sound is a definite improvement. Even the songs on DM sound better. I've listened to the 2008 and 2009 CD reissues from Warner Brothers and they're identical to the original Creation CDs. However, I haven't heard the original US CDs (which, according to a poster on the Steve Hoffman forums, used a slightly different - and lower quality- mastering), so can't comment on whether they're an improvement on those. To the best of my knowledge, the best versions of Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory are the 2009 vinyl reissues. They are much less compressed than the CDs, with better dynamics. None of the digital versions currently available come close. Some info on this here: www.dr.loudness-war.info/index.php?search_artist=Oasis&search_album=vinylThat said, I suppose there's nothing stopping Big Brother Recordings reissuing digital remasters that sound as good or better than those vinyls on CD, download, or even Super Audio CD though. I hope they will at some point. Maybe for the 20th anniversary of DM? Or perhaps either of these companies, which specialise in audiophile remasters of classic rock/pop, will do some Oasis titles Mobile Fidelity: www.mofi.com/store/pc/home.aspAudio Fidelity: www.audiofidelity.net/Hope the above was some help.

YES! That was actually going above and beyond what I expected. Thanks for the head's up! But this I will say - the Japanese reissue of WTSMG does sound incredible. That's why you see it selling for such a high price online. I do have an idea. I'm going to d/l one song from each album and compare the songs on my stereo. For $6, it's a worthwhile investment. Besides, you never know...maybe the Amazon downloads are remastered?

I have a picture signed by the band that Alan White Mailed to me. It means a lot because I never would have expected Whitey to actually mail me an autographed picture all the way to the U.S. Great guy.

Besides, you never know...maybe the Amazon downloads are remastered? Glad it was of some help. Based on what I've read on the Steve Hoffman forum, I think you should hear an improvement on those enhanced Warner CDs compared to the original US CDs. I think the US got a different master of Morning Glory originally. This might have something to do with the fact that, according to a Sound on Sound article on MG, the masters were almost rejected at first. It was one of the first CDs to use hypercompressed brickwall mastering, and the US engineers thought it was a fault. I think the US CD was the same mastering (just as compressed) but reduced in level. www.soundonsound.com/sos/nov10/articles/25-milestone-productions.htmFor the 2009 vinyl reissue I think that Metropolis mastering re-transferred the album from its original analogue master tapes, using less dynamic range compression than before - hence the improvement over previous versions. Same goes for DM and BHN, though the latter shows the biggest improvement. Thanks for the tip on the 2006 Japanese reissue of MG. Haven't heard it. Will check that out if I get a chance. I am also curious as to what the transfer of the original stereo mix on the ultra-rare SACD is like. The reviews are generally quite scathing of the sound quality of that disc, but I'd like to check it out for myself.
