ormer Leeds United and Sheffield United midfielder Alejandro Sabella will replace Sergio Batista as manager of the Argentina national team.
The 56-year old, who turned out for both English clubs in the late 1970s and early 80s, will soon be confirmed as the new boss of La Albiceleste after Batista was sacked earlier this week following the home side’s disappointing performance at the Copa America.
Argentinian Football Association (AFA) general secretary Jose Luis Meiszner said: "Sabella is the chosen one. The decision has been made."
Whilst AFA president told Radio Rivadavia that the appointment was close to being done.
"Negotiations are advanced. The Committee liked the job he has done in his coaching and assistant roles," he said.
