The only thing the songs share is a falsetto. Otherwise they are as disparate as they come. Idle embraces classic british songwriting of the 60s while The Death Of You And Me is rooted in Americana like Van Dyke Parks.
Very solid tune to pick as a first single sounds like nothing else out there.

I'll know once I hear back from my friend. As far as I know this hasn't been played anywhere in America yet and may not be the single.

If you put a brass solo over the guitar solo in TIOBI it would look like TDOYAM.

Agreed. However, most people here only have one point of reference (Oasis) because that's all they listen to.

The genius of Idle is the rhythm stolen from the song Clean Prophet by The La's. That is what the song is based around more so than anything else. That is not the case in The Death Of You and Me.

There are a couple other similarities, but for the most part I agree...which I think is a first.

Id say that it sounds like The Importance of Being Idle because of the Falsetto as mentioned earlier, aswell as the overall "lazy" feel to it....esp in the verse. Sounds like a great summer tune...to chill out on the back porch on a sunny day with a brew in hand
