Just did it myself and Noels song is lyrically better , has as better structure, feels less forced, better harmonies, more meaning, catchier tune and much more, I like both Gallagher's , but Noel wipes the floor here I'm afraid for Beady Eye.

I didn't need to listen to them back-to-back to understand all of that. Noel is genius in writing and melody, and LAG well . . . isn't. Pretty simple. Noel understands that theatricality is important in music. It gives intrigue. LAG would rather just bang out a few chords and hope that it ends well. It's all good. I enjoy both, but prefer Noel.

On another note, I can't wait to hear TIOBI and TDOYAM back to back. Did anyone say epic orgasm?

By the sounds of it you wanted Noel to make something better. But Four Letter Word, The Roller, For Anyone, The Morning Son, Wigwam and even Bring The Light for me are much more enjoyable to listen to and most are much better songs especially the first two.

I prefer the Roller, maybe it's the energy Liam gives to songs, I dunno, but there is something about the Roller that makes it more than the sum of it's parts.

Well I was actually comparing single to single, still think Noels song is of more quality than Beady Eye, and I like Beady eye I've seen them live bought the album ,the tshirt everything.

I remember hearing 'The Roller' for the first time, I was a lot more excited with what I heard. I suppose I expect genius from Noel but I still think 'The Roller' is a lot more 'instant' [no pun intended] than 'The Death Of You And Me'
It's win win really because Beady Eye released a better album than I expected and The Chief's album will probably be the best album of the year. By the end of the year we'll have 30 songs between both albums and b-sides.

The Roller is good, but I prefer TDOYAM cos it has a better craft and feels more modern, TR seems like something Noel would have record in 1992.

Like I mentioned in another thread, the better Noel's album is will mean the more time and effort LAG will put in to the follow up to DGSS. They may even start 'finishing' songs now. The real jury will be out on BDI come 2nd album but for now I enjoy listening to both. All in all its just really exciting to be an Oasis fan just now, all these new songs. The roller is a catchy solid tune that I will sing along to everytime I put it on. TDOYAM is brilliant, lyrically is superb as well.

first of Gem wrote the roller... so Liam shouldn't be in the equation when talking about the songwriting qualities.
nonetheless, I thought the roller was a strong cathy tune. TDOYAM is more interesting in the sense that it has an interesting orchestra etc

It took me a while to really like The Roller...and it went stale then very quickly.
I liked TDOYAM instantly though. We will see if it goes stale on me as quick as The Roller.

I haven't been able to shake off the Instant Karma ripoff feeling, so for me, TDOYAM is far more superior.

for me it just has that extra 'oomph' about it

There's actual musical merit with Noel's songs. JitKenson is spot on.

the roller is a tune an half but cant compare the songs as they have a totally different feel, people quick to comment on the instant karma connection but someone as already posted a video of where noel got this idea from,.its a great tune but wont be th best on his album by a longshot,if it is alot will be disappointed

I liked the Roller and i also like this tune. that whole which one's better lyrically crap is just that, a bunch of bullshit imo. It's all about which you like better. The Roller doesn't have a great intro, TDOYM does have a good one but it's basically the same as the one on TIOBI. Im not too crazy on the folksy vibe of the song since i never really loved The Importance either. I enjoy Liam's vocals on TR. In the end i like TR because it's more immediate, this Noel song maybe beautifully crafted and whatnot but i don't think it's better than BDI's first single.
