The idea that Oasis won't record another album is stupid. They wouldn't have played Glastonbury if it was already over. Also, since they've been in the studio multiple times, they've probably already been paid their advance. Add to that the studio costs and they'd owe Sony a lot of money if they pulled out now.
They will record a new album, and I think it'll be a good one. A Bell Will Ring and The Meaning Of Soul are opposites from each other, so there'll be variety. However, it'll probably be the last Oasis album. This is the last album on their current record deal and as things are I don't see why they'd sign another. If they did want to sign another deal, they'd make huge money. If they do, I just hope the motivation isn't purely financial.
If Oasis do continue, it'll be without Noel. By the time the new album is out he'll be 38. After the tour he'll probably be 39. By the time they get round to a seventh album he'd be into his forties. He's struggling to write great rock n' roll. I bet he has hundreds of more Weller-like songs like One Way Road sitting around but not enough Oasis songs.
I think the only chance Oasis have is Liam. I hate to say it but Noel's lost it. He's still capable of writing great songs, but not Oasis songs any more. It all depends on whether he's willing to stick around as a guitarist and an occasional songwriter. I don't know Noel, I've never met him. But everything I've seen and read tells me he's a control freak. He wouldn't stay if he wasn't 'in charge' any more.
Best case scenario in my opinion is that Oasis make a great sixth album and carry on with Liam taking on a much bigger role and Noel accepting this. But I can't see it happening. If the sixth album isn't a truly great album it's time to throw in the towel. They can't just keep trying to match the first two getting more and more average every time.
I bought Definitely Maybe when I was 10, I've grown up with Oasis. But all good things must come to an end, and if the next album isn't as good as the first two I think it's time to finish Oasis.

I agree with u, it seems that Oasis will write his final album, at least with Noel.
I bought The Masterplan when i was 15.
I´m a songwriter inspired in Oasis songs.

Last year I read that they had signed a new 6 album deal. I think Noel mentioned this in an interview recently as well.

i think a majority of ppl's connotation of what makes an 'oasis' song, well, oasis-like is reminiscent of songs from 8 -10 years ago...why cant we just accept that they have evolved, and so nowadays, what constitutes as an oasis song ISNT something that sounds like its off defintley maybe. as good as those songs were, if noel wrote songs like that now, i just dont think it'd feel real. it'd just be that he is trying to appease us and to satisfy ppls expectations, as opposed to honest songwriting from 40yr olds...like 'little by little' most of us agree (hopefully) that its a wicked song, and maybe songs like that will be the trademark of an oasis in the future.
oasis arent new, they arent fresh. they've been around for a decade or so, what do you expect from them? they cant keep shocking us and exciting us to the fever pitch they did circa 95...and assuredly there will be other newer fresher 'exciting' new bands to replace oasis's presence in the consiousness of the music world, while oasis moves on...i dont thinkg its possible for ANY band to sustain the type of phenomena that oasis generated when at their peak. they'll never be as big or culturally important as they were, but instead of that realisation spelling the end, it just may signal for a new era with exploration into differently good solid music.
of course, thats a hopefully. they can also just quit after the next album -.-
