Noel's solo material has been a closely guarded secret for a long time. It is now only a week away from your ears and I can finally tell readers it is just what you've been wishing for. The Death Of You And Me, out on August 28, is the first single from Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - and it's seriously impressive stuff. He's a big fan of Neil Young and Donovan - and Noel's first track is worthy of being mentioned beside those legends. It's nothing fancy or too intricate, just classic Noel songwriting - coupled with an unexpected brass section. Who saw that twist coming? Considering he smokes and drinks, his voice sounds more youthful than ever. It is closer in style to more recent Oasis tracks such as The Importance Of Being Idle from Don't Believe The Truth and (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady on Dig Out Your Soul. Lyrically, he's come up with more memorable lines and imagery about "storm clouds" soaking up his soul. It is a pearler and could even attract fans who wouldn't brave the flying pints of p*** at Oasis gigs. It has already been A-listed on Radio 2 four weeks before release - and that rarely happens. Xfm, 6 Music and Absolute are all thumping for it too. The video is ace. Filmed in the desert outside LA, with a stunning blonde waitress he pushes into a pool. The full video will be premiered on noelgallagher.com from 8.20am Monday. As he would say: "Get on it". Source: www.thesun.co.uk

What a surprise; Gordon Smart loves it.
So far up Noel's arse it's unbelievable.

Like I have said before, I think his album will be closer in style from his sunged songs from the past Oasis two album like TIOBI, FD and POTQ.

As much as I enjoyed Beady Eye's debut release - personally I reckon Noel's effort will blow it off the face of the earth.
I like Liam & the boys, but think that this could be an embarrassing time for them......Noel is just a class above!!

cant disagree anymore
ive only had 1 listen/watch but seriously disappointing ! The chorus isnt bad and the song certainly lifts then but its not overly catchy, its too like IOBI and im not digging the brass band etc at all! even the videos a bit naff!!!
it does remind me of some BHN era B-sides but i can also hear BDI in there which is not a good thing !
was expecting something more like 'stop crying your heart out'
cant for the life of me think why hes chosen this as the 1st single - the 1st song that introduces noel gallagher THE SOLO ARTIST to the world !
'Everybodys on the Run' and 'If i had a Gun' are far , far superior songs
i dont think this was a good choice for lead single - no way is it gonna top the charts !
its a shame because i had such high hopes but then he always did that - 'masterplan' & Aquiesce' as B-sides WTF!!!!!
I know the album will be worth it for the 4 songs mentioned above but this - not mindblowing !

Noel has never released a ballad first...of course he wasn't gonna do it now. I'll bet the second single is a ballad though

I'd say that If I Had A Gun sounds like a ballad, yes? That's a pretty safe bet for the second single.
