I'll get back to you on Monday when I've heard the song ;-)
Hopefully at least top 20 though, given that this is the first song and the marketing seems to be getting done properly.

Think it'll do quite well, better than Beady Eye.
The main difference is Noels releasing a cd single, Beady Eye havent done that. Dont know about you lot but i used to love buying the Oasis singles even though i had the album/downloaded it weeks before it was released. But having the physical single in my hands was superb.
Most people wont buy an mp3 single if theyve already got the album/mp3 album. Not really any point.
If Beady Eye released cd singles i think they would have charted far better. Be nice if they started doing this.

If Beady Eye start releasing cd singles, they'll sell them a month after the download comes out anyway ;-)

i'm cautiously optimistic about chart positions tbh i'm not sure the singles will do too well but i think the album is a cert for a top 5 spot.
but i couldnt care less about the charts tbh, if its good its good. i dont need some RnB flooded chav chart to tell me otherwise.

I'm gonna import the CD single. Thank You Noel for giving me the option! Watch and learn BDI!
I think the album is definitely top 5 probably #1 or #2. I'm hoping #1 for that first week. It'll be smashed by the Coldplay album the next week...but oh well.
With them being sensible and putting all types of releases to count toward the same week I think it'll make top 10. Still don't know why BDI did that. They could have charted that much better with TR...

I don't think the album will last longer than a week at #1 because Coldplay's album comes out seven days after. Hopefully the single goes top ten, but it all depends on airplay and promotion.

Do CD singles still count for the charts these days? I'll definitely be buying. Yeah, the record label can choose three formats which are eligible to chart (e.g. download + cd1 + cd2, or dl + cd + vinyl). There's a limit to the length and number of tracks on a cd single, but with just one b-side this will definitely count towards his chart position. PS When I said top 20 I was referring to the single. Album will surely be top 3.

Single sales don't matter. I hope it gets lots of airplay and loads illegal downloads. That's were the success can be measured.

it's hard to predict. it kind of depends on how good the single is. if it's good enough, not only oasis-fans will buy it, then it will be in the top 5 i guess. but who cares anyway. i guess it will sell more than beady eye

Since we've heard the single and b-side, I felt this deserved a bump. I think the single will go at least Top 15 due to the promotion, positive feedback from even non-fans, various available formats (and all being released on the same day, not spread out like Beady Eye) and the playlisting from major radio stations.
I really hope the album goes to number one - even Beady Eye, which not all Noel/Oasis fans were buying, got in the top three, behind two of the year's biggest sellers (Jessie J and Adele). Coldplay will almost certainly knock it off in the following week, though.

I don't understand why they've released the b-side - that would've been the only reason many fans would've bought a copy of the single.

Album will definitely reach the top 2. It just depends on how fast it gets to it's peak whether it reaches #1. I see The Death of You And Me doing a bit of a Supersonic. Charting low, yet over time, outselling number 1 singles. I'm going to say that it will peak at #8 though, it's accessible enough I think. And I hate to be another dick talking about If I Had a Gun as brilliant without ever hearing it, but... all the clues point that way, with it taking 3rd spot on the album iirc (With Wonderwall, Lyla, Live Forever... and Magic Pie ) and being chosen as US single, and originally the first single. Plus, the early reviews sound good. I assume Alan McGee? (or someone else) meant this song in particular when he said some of the songs were better than wonderwall (doubtful) and the soundcheck is pretty sweet.

it will debut @ #1, and stay in the top 10 for a couple weeks or little more.
the single will probably peak around #15 or something in that range. of course, I hope I'm wrong on the single

This will not happen. Hell, you're gonna be lucky if this song even makes top ten for a week. It's getting no airplay on major stations as far as I can tell, I've not seen the video on any major music stations and absolutely nobody is talking about outside of the fanbase. I would imagine the album might make number 1 on the Noel Gallagher name alone but the singles will be destined to the same chart mediocrity as Beady Eye's.
