The 'Blue Moon' thing got me thinking that the last five years of Oasis really seemed to lack 'fun'.
I'm sure the band had fun on the road, and people had fun going to see them, but the best bands always project a sense of it, and the Oasis of the past decade just seemed a bit too serious.
Early Oasis was always about fun, but taking it seriously too - The Arctic Monkeys are a great example of this, as were everyone worthwhile, from The Beatles to The Smiths.
And Beady Eye seem to be having great fun. Whilst Noel's press conference seemed anything but.

Totally agree. DOYS tour, especially. Lots of tension and passive aggression on that one.

Yeah fun on stage always makes a gig that little bit more special

Oasis shows were never fun. Oasis were the least entertaining spectacles i've ever seen. i can only appreciate so much Liam staring into nothing for so long. when he said nonsense that was funny but come on, Oasis were a boring live band as far as presence.
my favorite live show ever was Radiohead, Radiohead before that got weird, like in 1997 around OK Computer, in a high school size auditorium, that was fun, and the band were having fun, like 'what do you want us to play?' and they actually played it, and keep in mind, this is Cleveland, Ohio, the middle of NOWHERE.

The Oasis atmosphere, though, looks amazing. I would do anything to have been at Wembley 2000, The Barrowlands 2001, Finsbury Park, the list goes on and on and on......Immense stuff.

I wouldn't say Oasis were a boring spectacle, far from it actually, but as far as being taken seriously the pressure is off now so that's probably why they (Liam more so) seem to be having more fun. Gem, Andy & Chris will feel relieved not having to listen to the brothers argue which will motivate them.

The two times I saw Oasis they were an amazing live band, both gigs were in the uk (00 and 05) so im sure the crowds love for the band helped to make the show that much more special.

Wow. I could never sign this. Oasis gigs were immense. Finsbury Park + Wembley 2009... some of the best times of my life.

I agree. Not really that Oasis lacked fun altogether, but the whole vibe of BDI feels more relaxed and joyful than 00s Oasis. I think that's the main gain we got from the split.

There were a lot of tension between the Gallaghers at the noughties, mainly on DOYS tour.

You can fuck right off with that bollocks. If you find Oasis boring live then you don't get it and if you find Radiohead gig's more fun then I despair. Oasis live in England at least is one of the most mental experiences you can get at a gig, even in seated. Even Beady Eye live was incredible.

Radiohead fun? Jesus! The whole ethos of early Oasis included a lot of humour - songs like 'Digsy's Dinner' and 'Bonehead's Bankholiday' are obvious, but there's so much else. Also would Radiohead have let 'Wibbling Rivalry' out (althoug I can imagine they pseudo intellectual inter band arguments would be pretty funny to hear). And Oasis gigs were joyous occassions, always including brilliant asides and quips from Noel (and often pithy one liners from Liam). The last eight years were kind of 'we're a serious stadium band' and didn't feel right. The Beatles were possibly at their funniest at their biggest so it doesn' have to be. I'm just diggin' Beady Eye more and more with everytihng they do. And I'm old enough to remember that "the critics" wrote off Morning Glory and said the Blur album pissed all over it. I can't even remember the title of the Blur album now.

i will hold back the water.
i have certain nightmares. for instance, watching the 'Oprah' show with Oprah. and living the same day over and over (which i kinda do), much like an Oasis show, no spontaniety, staring into nowhere with a god given gifted songwriter and his brother that can sing when he's in the mood.
that's completely crass and goes against the rules of the kool-aid but yeah.
p.s. i do officially retire from the Oasis/BDI/Noel Gallagher sections of the forum, now.
you're welcome, God bless.
