Well, I've been holding off joining this forum for a while because it always seems like new member seem to get flamed and killed for their poor jokes and lack of knowledge. Luckily, I'm wearing a fireproof suit, and made sure to check the tabloids for the most reliable news, so I feel safe enough for now.
Anyway, the actual topic of this thread is: what is everyone else thinking when Noel Gallegher describles his music as 'dance' (despite the fact the word doesn't fit, blah blah).
Personally, I've been thinking it will probably go in either or these two directions (I don't know how to make the youtube things pop up, you guys will have to manually click them)
or
While there not hugely dance tracks like what people nowdays are probably used to, I could imagine Noel doing this much more than pressing different electronica buttons on some Garage band things.
But I want more opinions that just mine on this (hence why I signed up for this forum, and posted this thread) So please, reply with your thoughts- and songs, and I'll treasure it in my heart forever.

Yes it will definitely be the above type of dance track. I hope people aren't expecting something like Lady Gaga I think it may sound like a Kasabian track since Noel has always had high praise for them and he is good friends with the band

Thanks for your music guys - on second look, your songs seem much more likely than my original spaceman (even though Noel has always wanted to be one), just because I think he lacks the vocal confidence to do something like that. (The closest he comes to that sort of vocal performance, I think is Where Did It All Go Wrong, and I'd love to hear something like that again) Course, even a little change, like from Stone Roses influenced (stolen ) to Kasbian or Chemical Brothers will make a huge difference on how accepted he is by his fans. Personally, being the self absorbed person I am, I would actually really like some sort of 'Spaceman' styled one - would probably do decently in terms of acceptance in the modern scene too, although Begging You/Stuntman/Let Forever Be seem more likely considering his voice and what I guess to be his comfort zone. Hell, I'm down for anything*. *Apart from The Black Eyed Peas. The human body was designed to excrete, so I see absolutely no reason to force feed shit to my ears and go through it all again.

I remember noel mentioning that his wife (then girlfriend) thought that 'Lord don't slow me down' was the only oasis track you could 'dance' to.
I do realise that this is completely different than actually defining its genre as 'dance', but wouldn't be overly surprised if 'AKA... What a life!' was similar, if only lacking the guitars of LDSMD

One thing I'm not so sure on is whether it will be a 'dance song' or a song to which 'you can dance to'. Noel said in the press conference that "its for want of a better word, 'dance music' and I'm 44.....I can't dance".
So that leaves it open, will it be a dance track along the lines of The Chemical Brothers or The Stone Roses or will it be a song that has no guitars that is just a song to dance to and not a dramatic departure from the rest of the album.
Beady Eye produced Bring The Light, now that isn't a dance track but it has little guitars and you can dance to it. I'm not saying we will get 50's rock'n'roll but maybe we have misinterpreted what we'll get, only time will tell.

Some good ideas in this thread.
The first idea that came into my head was the Chemical Brothers Falling Down remix, but without the ridiculous electronic solos. I know that isn't dance as such, but dance can be a lot of things, and I think it'll be more chilled out than people think.
Thats just the impression I get though, none of us have any idea what to expect really.

Wasn't The Turning meant to be a dance track as well? I can see it being similar to that. He even said there's a solo in there somewhere so it can't be that weird. I kinda expect it to sound sort of like a Chemical Brothers remix of The Turning if anything.

It will be like the Friendly Fires and he's gonna bring out Hawaiian dancers for his set at Glasto next year.

Anyone heard Paul Weller's new single Starlight? Noel's vocals wouldn't sound out of place on it and that could be considered dance. Could be something similar?
