I wouldn't be against Beady Eye mixing in songs from time to time like:
- I'm Outta Time - Songbird - Boy With The Blues - Eyeball Tickler - Turn Up The Sun - A Bell Will Ring - Hung In A Bad Place
It would add more depth to the setlist. For me Kill For A Dream just sticks out too much. Too slow. This tune never really did it for me. Perhaps too cheesy with some of the lyrics. I'm not surprised Noel rejected it for DOYS.

they should drop for anyone because its ok but not great and just replace it with songbird They already dropped For Anyone.. I would like to hear The Boy With The Blues. Most people won't even now it's an Oasis song as it was never on an album. And I wouldn't mind Songbird either BUT I think it was a very wise decision not to play Oasis songs cause otherwise they could/would have become some sort of Oasis tribute band with people only comming to hear them songs

They already dropped For Anyone.. It's still in their normal "own gig" set.

Maybe as a surprise they could throw in 1 OASIS song but not anymore than that.1 song would be enough to make the gig feel fresh or exciting in a new way./

Adding 'Boy With The Blues' in the encore would be epic. I'd be down for that and maybe 'Songbird' thrown into the middle of the main setlist.
Let's be honest, the majority of people that go to these Beady Eye concerts are former Oasis fans. We all know this.

I applaud Beady Eye for going out with all new material, but also think that no-one would think they were trying to pull a fast one by playing their self-written Oasis songs. If they did "Live Forever" or something that would be stupid, but "Boy With The Blues" and "I'm Outta Time " were two of the best Oasis songs of the past ten years without question. It's particularly criminal that BWTB was buried in the way it was. So for me, killer future Beady Eye setlists will include BWTB, IOT and Hung In A Bad Place. And not forgetting 'Sleep Freak' of course

Turn up the Sun and Songbird aside, I'd rather hear Beady Eye songs than the collective bag of shite they amassed in Oasis.

I think they should play the album in whole, which they are doing right?
Then add 4 Oasis songs THEY wrote ala... Songbird, Little James, A Bell Will Ring, Love Like a Bomb
I think that would only help them... not hurt them

A song written in Liam's songwriting infancy for his step-son who was barely out of nappies in front of thousands of typical Oasis fans (beer-swilling thugs) won't go down well... Saying that, the melody was one of Oasis's best!

Simple answer to this question... NO! They really SHOULDN'T play any Oasis songs in Beady Eye. They definitely did the right thing by finding a new name and treating it as a whole new band, a fresh start, as well as sticking to only the new songs live. If they took it seriously then they'd keep to that theory. DGSS was a fairly solid debut and easily shows that they've all matured as songwriters over the past few years. Album no.2 (and 3) need to better that, and I'm sure they will.

Why does everyone forget about 'Guess God Thinks I'm Abel'? Easily the best thing Liam ever wrote, so much so that I don't believe he even wrote it on his own.
Got nothing to do with the main topic of this thread BUT, I really think that one of the main reasons why DBTT was regarded as being one of their best albums since the mid 90s (if its not now then it will be in years to come), was MAINLY due to Liam, Gem and Andy's songs being so strong on it. Turn Up The Sun, Guess God Thinks I'm Abel and A Bell Will Ring are all equally as strong as Noels efforts from that period as well (with the exception of maybe The Importance Of Being Idle of course)

Here's a thing.
Beady Eye go on and on about how "it's a whole new band" "we're like a brand new band" "people need to get to know us all over again, like it was in the early days of Oasis".
Well, what do new bands do? They play support slots to raise their profile. New bands do not go on a headline tour for a good, long while. And when they do, they flesh out the set with covers.
They should either go out on tour as special guests to someone like Paul Weller, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, whoever, or just charge less for gigs if you're not gonna get a full gig's worth of music. Or embark on a package tour - something more common in hard rock and heavy metal, but I'm sure they could put one togethere. In the US right now Motley Crue are touring with special guests Poison and New York Dolls. Journey recently toured the UK with special guests Foreigner, and support from Styx. I know Liam's burned a lot of bridges in his time but if the band's meant to use being a "whole knew band" "proving themselves as a fresh new thing" and whatever - don't play a headline tour unless you've got a headline tour's worth of material. It's just bullshit, and it's a rip-off.
If anything, fans are MORE likely to expect Oasis covers in a headline set, since they'll be scratching their head going "how are they gonna fill a set that long?".
So I think the band should either do the above, or do some Oasis songs.
With regards to the discussion over which Oasis songs they could play, duly note that Beady Eye's album in the UK (which is their largest market for concerts, so we can use as an example) has sold somewhere in the region of 120, 000 copies. Dig Out Your Soul, the lowest selling of the three Liam/Andy/Gem/Noel-written albums has sold over 610, 000 copies. I think it's safe to say that given most people who like Beady Eye were probably Oasis fans first (the band is not so drastically different as to conver many new listeners), most Oasis album-tracks they could pull out will be at least somewhat familiar (b-sides not so much, of course).
For those saying none of their Oasis material was nearly as big as the Noel-written stuff, that's true but...."Songbird" would get a big pop from the crowd....Heathen Chemistry has sold 1.07 million copies, Stop the Clocks is at 1.1 million, Time Flies has sold 305, 000, and it was present on all three and presented as one of the "key" tracks on them. Even the single had a fairly good chart run (3 -> 6 -> 17 -> 27 -> 33 -> 44 -> 53 -> 45 -> 44 -> 73) with sales of around 120, 000 copies (for a comparison, "The Roller" went 31 -> 68, re-entry, 51 -> 72). There's no way that anyone can claim the song would would go down less than impressively.
"I'm Outta Time" was less of a success, but still - I've given you the sales for Time Flies and Dig Out Your Soul, and the single's run of 12 -> 46 -> 83 is still sizeably better than that of "The Roller" considering far less hype was attached to just-another-Oasis-single in the middle of an album campaign, than thet debut Beady Eye single.
Since they aren't really very well-loved albums, my guess would be most people don't listen to Chemistry or Soul in full very often...."Hung in a Bad Place" was quite early on the album it came from though, so that could work. As "Turn up the Sun" was album-opener on an album that really seeped into the public conciousness (far more than the other two, despite being the middle of the three for sales), so that'd be a fair shout too. If they added those 4 songs that'd probably be a set sorted...or they could just cover some songs by other artists (perhaps the same covers Oasis had been known to do, as some sort of compromise?).

^ Well, they haven't been playing Oasis songs and have been headlining their gigs and selling out most of them (although in small venues, of course), so I think it's fair to say it has worked pretty well for them, I think.

At a commercial level, yes. I am speaking more of what's fair to fans.
It would also no doubt get them more positive reviews from gig critics - who have complained about the songs not being 100% up to scratch (not every song on an album works as well live, fact of life), and the set being too short.
Those gigs they're headlining are very small, in contrast to their vast, expensive promotional campaign. This whole thing is a loss-leader, aiming to break even at best, with the idea of the band making some money once established, and they're not doing their best to ensure they play larger venues on future tours.

I think they should not play OASIS songs. They are writing better songs WOMR, ITBWAB... I think we just need to wait for album #2. It will be all new material; whereas, DGSS was mostly left-overs (whether they'll admit it or not). I am excited more for the 2nd album. In The Bubble With A Bullet is the best song they have done! So if we are patient, their second tour will be 10 new songs and the 8 best songs from DGSS+B-sides... In other words they'll cut the weakest songs and add new ones, which SHOULD be better.

I like the fact they're playing small venues. I've seen Oasis at least 20 times in the past 11 years from Finsbury Park,Wembley,ManchesterApollo N@C tour and finally Brid spa hall not much bigger than your front room! The stadium gigs can be amazing but it has been great to be able to get to the front and actually see him sing in person and not just on a big screen. The atmosphere is more intimate between the band and the crowd. I don't think they should play Oasis material, a few good cover versions wouldn't go amiss tho' IMO. Paul Weller didn't play The Jam stuff for that reason when he went solo, then a few years later he stuck the odd one in when his solo stuff stood by itself and they then complimented the new stuff not take away from it.

It's like they made a new signing who they new was shit but played him to get some experience at the expense of a the superstar who was resigned to the bench. A decision which ultimately contributed to losing the game (to take the analogy further).

Beady Eye want to prove they don't need Noel, but also that they don't need Oasis to be successful. That is why they wont play Oasis songs. Maaaaaaaybe, next tour as an encore or finale– that's it.

IMO not playing oasis songs is THE best choice for BDI and their credebility but perhaps not for their oasis fanbase. When they decide to play oasis songs I hope they dont play I'm Outta Time, A Bell Will Ring and Guess God Thinks I'm Abel because live Liam struggles. Little James is not an option. The other mentioned song work IMO. And of course The Blue Moon cover
