Well well well it looks like Mr. Noel Gallagher was right all along. www.nme.com/news/glastonbury/57914Asked in June of 2008 why the festival wasn't selling out for the night Jay-Z was scheduled to perform: "If it ain't broke don't fix it. If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance. Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?' I don't know about it. But I'm not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong." Nice of Michael Eavis to finally reveal the truth. "We sell out only because we get huge headliners. In the year Jay-Z played we nearly went bankrupt." Noel took too much shit for that over blown comment.

AS ALWAYS NOEL GALLAGHER IS FUCKING RIGHT!!!!
Jay Z was fucking dreadful as well. The only reason that nobody mentions the 20,000 people leaving half-way through is because it doesn't suit the agendas of the journos.
That version of Wonderwall still makes me fucking cringe to this day.

People must be deluded if they though Jay-Z was great - as mentioned, there was mass walkouts with that performance. Nothing against hip hop, but it just doesn't mix with festivals like Glastonbury.
It was a desperate attempt by journos to look hip and cool. Of course, they're not going to admit they were wrong and concede to Noel Gallagher anyway, who they see as an apparent 'has been'. I hope Noel sticks it to the journalists when asked about it next time.
