Over the past few months, I've noticed quite a lot of people don't want songs they've already heard on Noel's album. With the tracklisting now announced, there are a few unhappy that only half the songs are 'new'. I was just thinking, imagine if the Internet had been about when The Beatles split up. George's solo album, All Things Must Pass, had songs dating all the way back to 1966. I'd say he made one of the greatest albums of all-time (Liam agrees) but using the logic some people have expressed round here, half the songs would have been binned. I think we have to remember that 90% of oasis fans have never heard Stop the Clocks and Record Machine, or at least before yesterday when youtube links to them started cropping up in blogs all over the web. These are songs which, I think, could go on to be remembered as classics. It's pretty naive to think these should remain unreleased to prevent Noel from reproducing 'old' stuff. It's new to most of the world. I imagine a large chunk of all 28 songs across the two albums were written before oasis split (no doubt a few were written before he was born ). I don't see why it matters. If Noel thinks they are worthy of inclusion, then let's trust him. Let's not be precious that we've heard all these songs before, as it would be great if Noel had some success on his own. And I for one am delighted that Record Machine will get a proper release.

What annoys me is that some people were complaining about the fact BDI songs are old, but they don't seem to care that we already know almost half of Noel's album.

Basically each Beatle (except for Ringo) released songs written before the break up later in their carreer. Paul had "Junk", Lennon "Jealous Guy" and George released "Not Guilty" not earlier than in 1979. They're all great songs and all deserved to be released, same here, for some reasons they were not included on Oasis albums, but we should not treat them as scraps.

I love STC and RM, so I don't mind at all. It's a crime/Let there be love and loads of demos (e.g. The Hindu Times) demonstrates that a song can get a really different vibe. I'm curious.

I didnt see anyone complaining that the songs are "old"? Do people really expect he wrote them all last Monday or are people just "complaining" that four of them already leaked?

I'm fine with old songs. Hell, I'm sure Noel has some fantastic songs left from 1994-1996 that didn't even make the cut for b-sides. I wouldn't seeing those on a solo record.

im sure if they internet was about back then and we'd heard demos of certain tracks of 'all things must pass' then we'd be complaining just the same. yeah it will be good to here fully produced versions but i hoped there would be a full new album, im still excited either way. i love the AA so looking forward to that album aswell

a good song is a good song. I don't care how old it is. I can't wait to hear final versions of the songs we have heard demos/soundchecks of, it fact in some ways it makes me more excited because I know they are already solid songs and with the proper production they can be superb. Like joeyfrancis said their are probably some songs that are from 94-96 that are great and I really wouldn't mind hearing those either.
Plus we are getting another album next year, probably full of next material so I'm not worried.

I'm more than happy we'll get proper finished versions of both STC and RM. And it will be nice to see how Noel worked on his sound checked songs, too. Remember, it's not like we have the versions that will appear on the album. I expect quite some work will have been made to all 4 songs in question. In fact, we don't even really know the vibe of the sound check songs considering the setting they were leaked in!
RM and STC deserve a finished release and a listen and appreciation by the general public. Looking forward to October!
