...a record lable producer told me that during last nights ' Fountains of Wayne' gig at the Roseland in NYC the band sang an Oasis cover and big part of the audience sang along. He was not able to identify the song for me , The band is famous for the world hit " Stacey's Mom" and the guys had two Grammy nominations..." anyone know which Oasis song they include in there sets?

No idea, but judging by their music styles it aint gonna be a song like Don't Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova etc.
Wouldn't be overly suprised if it was She's Electric but that's just an uneducated guess...

fountains.......are pretty fucking good to be fair. I beg to differ. I am just judging this on Stacie's Mum, so I could be completely wrong about them. I suppose them covering Oasis isn't any worse than Good Charlotte doing Acquiesce.

Wasn't TOTP, it was BBC's reloaded thing where bands play a new song and a cover version.

'Re-covered' I think the show was cunningly called, but in all fairness to them, they were pritty complementery of Oasis.

Got this from one of their fansites:
Chris from FOW: "Both Adam and myself were influenced by British invasion music from the 60's, such as the Beatles, the Zombies, and the Hollies. We also both grew up listening to 70's radio, and we both love big radio hits from that time, like 'Don't Fear the Reaper' (Blue Oyster Cult) and 'Dream Police' (Cheap Trick)." -CC

I'd love to hear it just to laugh! it's pretty good, actually. they didn't butcher it, and they seem to be big oasis fans. good enough for me. some liners at the end of the perf. "Acquiesce...is one of the greatest B-sides I've ever heard." "And everyone's doing Beatles covers, I mean, Oasis are better than the Beatles..."
