That's dumb, but hey, that's what the internets are for. We'll all be listening to it by October 10th so its not a big deal.

He's gonna do proper promo over stateside with the album though. Gigs in major cities...he's going to actually graft it a bit here.
It's to be applauded.
I'll download illegally from the UK...then buy it ASAP when it drops over here. I want to support Noel...just like I want to support BDI.

As long as he visits Las Vegas or Reno...

Pretty common for releases to be different across the pond. Adele's album came out a month later in the US, for example, and look at that now....

A staggered release date doesn't really matter for Noel. Oasis fans in the US will buy his album no matter what. They'll support.

morning glory came out a month later here as well.
i stil think it is stupid to stagger release dates in this day in age.

i stil think it is stupid to stagger release dates in this day in age. I agree. If it's any good you're basically just asking people to pirate it.

Its going to be pirated no matter how good it is. Staggering dates is an archaic practice that dates back decades. Its clear he's going to use that month window to promo. Theres been rumors he's coming to NYC in November since the BDI show.

It's staggered so he can do promo. He can't physically promote an album all around the world for a single date.
He's doing proper international promo on a proper label...I'm glad about that

well obviously it's not a major label but i read it is a minor division of DefJam or something like that. basically the same thing as BDI's US label, which is under the Universal Music Group umbrella(i believe?)
In any case, i hope Mercury Rcds does as good a job as Dangirbird has done for BDI. Getting them on Letterman, having them front page on iTunes, that's all the label's work, they did more than Warner or Universal ever did for Oasis.

I hope their promo is more cohesive and targeted. Looks like they are getting him to properly promote the release which is a major step in the right direction.
