Ridiculous thread. They are not "competing", there won't be a chart war like Oasis v. Blur. Besides, Noel's gonna be making indie space music.

A lot of folk are assuming Noel's album will be out in the autumn - I'm not so sure myself. Haven't got high hopes for Kasabian's album after hearing their new songs.

Sad to say this about a legend like Noel... But he'll get brushed aside by Kasabian... In a chart sense, of course... They won't fall out or anything... but I can't see Noel out-doing kasabian... Either way, I'll be buying both on release day

im a big kasabian fan my self but i wouldn't right noel off for sales . The only solo noel release so far is 'the dreams we have as children' that went to number 1 in the iTunes album chart and that was the week after the album was given away for free in a newspaper.
a lot of people oasis fans or not have respect for noel, and will buy his album.. if it is good it'll definitely have natural sales momentum

I honestly think Noel would sell more than Kasabian. They owe Noel a big part of their fans

I think Noel is going to sell more than Beady Eye and more than Kasabian. He is still a big name, and there is big expectation about his long awaited solo album

I honestly think Noel would sell more than Kasabian. They owe Noel a big part of their fans Well the 3 Kasabian albums have all easily outsold the last Oasis album (in the UK) so Noel would probably need to be more succesful than latter day Oasis to do this.

Is it an opinion or a fact ? I found these numbers for UK sales West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum : ~600 000 Dig out your soul : ~800 000

Dig Out Your Soul is about 615,000. West Ryder is approaching 750,000. I don't know where you got those figures from.

wiki and other websites (http://www.bpi.co.uk/certifiedawards/search.aspx, ...) Wikipedia is an unofficial site that can be edited by anyone so to even site that as a source is laughable. And the bpi certifications are correct. Both albums are 2x Platinum. That means they have both shipped between 600,000-900,000 copies....which they have.

Noel's album will be bigger and better than Kasabian's. Easily.

Noel Gallagher will piss all over Kasabian in terms of sales. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a nut case. This is one of the most eagerly anticipated debut albums.
