From the Letterman gig.
3:25, check it out. Am I hearing things? He sure as hell didn't say "wall", he clearly enunciates the "N" sound...maybe the video quality flubbed it, but I swear he is saying Noel!
Anyone else hear it? Maybe Liam poking a bit of fun, or a sign of things to soon come?

Knob is debatable, but doesn't make sense. Why change wall to knob? I'm a yankee, accents and enunciation varies greatly between us and the brits, but "b" is still a strong sound and I don't hear it. His lip movement matches that of "knob", with him closing his lips together to make the "B" sound, but the same goes for L. The lips on both sounds come close together...I hear Noel though. Maybe I'm crazy, but I can see both Noel and Knob working. Mayhaps I should put down the alcoholic beverages before I start topics

Soon enough, the world waits for rough sounds and pounds of beats, rhythm melodies and treats for the ears and the mind to hear so upbeat that lifts and inspires, what kind of empire are we building? just to slowly tear down, ashes and brick thrown around, like playthings, such slow things that we all dream about, hear it in the sounds but hear it slightly off, slightly hazed and obscure, what is it we're trying to figure out? Just a sound that rings and rings for days true, a blood bond has been broken and torn straight in two, with the body and voice cracked sore, I don't need any clues or to say any more.

Why is he singing FLW on this one, but when I watched it when it aired it was Roller?
Do they do a whole set and only air one song?

"Cock of the north". For non-natives, in this case 'cock' is slang meaning hardest or toughest.

Why would Liam ever use the phrase "cock of the north"? He's constantly used Knob before in songs (See SMS), and like minded words.

Why would Liam ever use the phrase "cock of the north"? Because it's provincial slang. Means nothing.

"Clock on the Noel" wouldn't make any sense to be honest

Definitely sounded like "cock of the north" to me.
Cock of the north is a slang way of saying "the pride of" or "the best", so its his way of saying he is the "number one" and he says its time.
Makes far more sense than the clock on the knob or the clock on the Noel.
And yes, he's used knob before, but only when it actually makes sense.

Actually, listen to the IOW version, it's clearly cock of the north.
