THE fiance of former Oasis wife Meg Mathews has been arrested for suspected robbery at his Spanish bolthole.

Spanish police swooped on millionaire wheeler-dealer Kris Flynn, who is planning to marry Oasis star Noel Gallagher's ex-wife. Last night Flynn, who was planning to hand himself in to detectives, was behind bars and facing extradition to Britain.

His arrest comes four months after the Sunday Mirror revealed Gallagher was "very concerned" about Meg's relationship with Flynn. The musician feared he would not see Anais - his three-year-old daughter by Meg - because she was spending all her time in Spain.

Former car sales executive Flynn went to live in Spain in August 2001. He was wanted for questioning over a foiled plot to rob a business in Cobham, Surrey.

It has emerged that Flynn was planning to fly back to Britain to turn himself into police in a bid to "wipe the slate clean".

But the 31-year-old was arrested on behalf of Surrey Police before he got the chance to come home.

Flynn met Meg, 36, at a party in Spain and proposed to her last September. The couple were planning to marry later this year.

Meg showed off her £30,000 engagement ring at a lunch in London with friends Kate Moss, Sadie Frost and Tracey Emin.

Last night a friend said: "Kris was caught between a rock and a hard place because Noel Gallagher doesn't want his daughter Anais living with someone wanted by the cops.

"And Kris' ex-girlfriend didn't want her baby son Remy spending time alone with him in Spain either.

"So he thought he could makes a clean breast of everything and then turn himself in before he started planning for the future. Now his future doesn't look so bright."

Flynn - understood to have business interests in southern Spain - lived in a £350,000 villa near millionaires' playground Puerto Banus on the Costa del Sol.

Meg, now a costume designer, was planning to move to Spain permanently to live with Kris. But ex-husband Noel threatened to launch a custody battle for Anais.

Former PR girl Meg and Noel, 36, were married for three years but divorced in 2001.

Following a bitter court fight, she won a £4million divorce settlement.
