Tsk tsk, Noel. Course, he was a drop out. My exact point from the previous thread. Noel's lyrical prowess has dropped off significantly.

Sorry to go all grammar-nazi on you but You and Me is correct: It's "You and I" when they are the *subject* of the sentence (that is, they're performing an action) You and I are going to the park today. It's "You and Me" when they are the *object* of the sentence (that is, something is being done to them) I can't believe they robbed you and me.Generally you don't see " you and me" because it's usually replaced by " us" while " you and I" is replaced by " we" We are going to the park today and I can't believe they robbed us.If you can use " we", you would use You and IIf you can use " us", you would use You and Me"The Death of We" or "The Death of Us" The second is correct of course, therefore can be subsituted with You and Me. Another test is just to take out the word 'you' and whichever still sounds grammatically correct would be the right usage: "The Death of I" or "The Death of Me" Again, the second. Grammatically speaking, the title " The Death of You and Me" is correct The more you know and now back to your regularly scheduled thread...

As a high school English teacher, I can verify that "The Death of You and Me" is grammatically correct. 'Of you and me' is a prepositional phrase therefore, 'me' is the object of the preposition and the correct form.

Is weird you guys have doubts on it and I, despite I am not english, would write without any doubt ''The death of you and me'' instead of ''The death of you and I'' because that's how I have been taught.

'The death of you and I' doesn't even sound correct when spoken, it's awkward.

Reminds me of: " But you and I, we live and dieThe world's still spinning round We don't know why" On a side note: Liam was also referring to CS lately. Coincidence?

"I" is the subject in that sentence, therefore Noel is correct again. However, if anyone is really, really interested in a time when Noel was grammatically incorrect: "Lately, did you ever feel the pain in the morning rain.." It should be, "Lately, have you ever felt the pain..." But melodically, that doesn't sound right to the ear which is my guess why he changed it. Good move, Chief..

LOL...I don't think he was saying anything about grammar. He was saying that the title reminds him of a line from CS. You guys are funny when you are singlemindedly focused on grammar.

Let's talk about more things that don't matter at all!
It should be "Death of You and Me". I don't like the "The" It's too generic and clearly a response to "The Morning Son" because it also features a "The" in the title! Shame on you Noel

I haven't read through this entire thread, but I'm sure it's been corrected now. It's "You and Me" in this case.
Simple trick: Remove the first half and see if it makes sense: The death of I? Nope. The death of me? Yup.
Bonkers and I love Oasis: I love Oasis. Yup. Me love(s) Oasis. Nope.

The one that gets me is in TIOBI: "Cos it don't stop raining".....it's should be "won't", which would fit in identically. No idea why Noel went with 'don't'

Bwilder, I'm an English teacher in Massachusetts, too. What town/city do you teach in?
For the record, "The Death of You and Me" is right. But tell that to Jim Morrison: "Till the stars fall from the sky / for you and me" would just sound awful.
