Liam Gallagher’s bodyguard has been ­arrested on suspicion of threatening to kill an ex-business partner and send­ing him a bullet in the post.

Steve Allen, 41 – who also runs three of the former Oasis frontman’s ­companies – was arrested as part of an investigation into letters allegedly written to two people due to give ­evidence against him in a civil case.

Sam Berry and his girlfriend Claire Humphries, 28, allegedly received letters with bullets in them at their homes in Worcestershire.

One is ­alleged to have said: “Drop the case, or the next case will be yours.”

A police source said: “A man was ­arrested on suspicion of threats to kill.”

Mr Allen – who has also worked for Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, ­Eminem, Blur, Pulp and foreign ­royalty – is locked in several legal battles with Mr Berry.

Ms Humphries, a chartered ­accountant, is a witness in the cases.

The bodyguard has already had to pay out more than £54,000 to Mr Berry over a dispute involving a firm they jointly owned, Risks Contained.

Mr Berry has three more civil cases lodged at Redditch County Court against Mr Allen and his ­company.

The married father of five was ­arrested at his home near Southampton, Hampshire, and bailed.

Mr Allen has been Beady Eye singer Liam’s bodyguard, friend and business partner for more than 10 years.

He was with the star when he had his front teeth punched out in a nightclub brawl in Munich in 2002.

He is managing director of three of Liam’s companies – clothing brand Pretty Green, film company Savile Row Films and production company In 1 Productions.

Police said: “Hampshire Police ­arrested a man on suspicion of threats to kill and he has been bailed to return to a West Mercia police station.”
