Come on, thats just a lazy way to release a album. An professional band should know how to make a good tracklist and release the leftovers as b-sides(or save a couple of them for the next one)

This would make for a great episode of Fear Factor.

I like the Kaiser Chiefs a lot. Anyone who has purchased the album? Haven't done it yet, but from the previews I think that Saying Something, Dead Or In Serious Trouble, Long Way From Celebrating, If You Will Have Me, When All Is Quite and My Place Is Here sounds great. They also cite BHN as a major influence for the "album"! www.nme.com/news/kaiser-chiefs/57090 (this is, according to some review, evident on Dead Or In Serious Trouble and Long Way From Celebrating. The latter has a really cool I Hope I Think I Know/Roll With It-style chorus.

fkn love 15 of the new songs. there's a few throwaways in my opinion, but they to me they seem to be a few that people are really liking like: cousin in the bronx, problem solved, and dead or in serious trouble, so oh well. I really believe I picked the "longest lasting", best ten. If you're interested, here's "my" album: www.kaiserchiefs.com/jamestownoasisman on mars starts with nothing and out of focus are just amazing. Really really unique keys in a lot of the songs, and some of the multi tracked vocals are just incredible. To be honest, as an American, I've always been shocked that they haven't been even bigger in the UK...their sound is uniquely British to me and I love a shitload of their tongue-in-cheek lyrics. Definitely worth the $11.

To be honest, I wouldve bought this legally if it was a conventional album, but im the sort of person who wants ALL the songs and the only way to do that is to download illegally. Interesting idea though and im sure it will suit some people, not for me though

How does the best tracks stand against tunes like Ruby, Highroyds, I Predict A Riot and Oh My God?

^ For me, this is a completely different sound for them in a lot of ways. The meolides are VERY 80's synth'ish and the lyrics are a bit darker than ever.
Don't get me wrong, I still like 4-5 I didn't put on quite a bit, but I just liked the way the 10 I picked flowed.
"Starts with Nothing" could be my new all-time fave with them. Lyrics are inconsequential (shocker, I know) but the SOUND of ths song is like crack to me.
Musta heard it 50 times already.
And again: Man on Mars, Saying Something, My Place is Here, and Out of Focus are all very very good.
Honestly, I'll take my ten songs over the past three albums...all of which I liked considerably.
I would highly recommend at least listening to the samples a few times...even if you haven't like them in the past.
Everyone I know who has done so has really been into the LP.
