I’VE got some bad news for NOEL GALLAGHER ... he’s wanted by the cops – but it isn’t exactly for the most rock ’n’ roll crime of the century.
The police have paid Bizarre a visit after seeing my story of Noel walking along a railway line and they want to feel his collar.
It seems I accidentally put the OASIS guitarist and drummer — and now desperado — in the frame by running the picture on Monday.
Now the British Transport Police want to haul him in for questioning.
Inspector Kevin Marshall rang me yesterday to say he wanted to talk to a Mr N Gallagher.
And he added that Noel faces a fine of up to £1,000 if it can be proved he has been trespassing.
He said: “I have been contacted by National Rail and they want me to investigate.
“I will need to speak to Mr Gallagher because the danger is children may copy what he’s doing.
“The message needs to be clear that people should not step foot on the railways. If he is found to have broken a law he could face a fine of up to £1,000.”<br>
As serious as the incident is, it’s hardly up there in the rock ’n’ roll hall of infamy.
I don’t think THE WHO’s KEITH MOON is going to be spinning in his grave. Not even STEPS have anything to worry about.
I revealed on Monday that Noel, brother LIAM and bandmates GEM ARCHER and ANDY BELL have been recording the new Oasis album in deepest Cornwall.
The band are staying in the village of Golant near the studio where they made debut album Definitely Maybe.
I told how they were ignoring the local boat service to take them to Sawmills Studios, which is accessible from the water only at high tide.
Instead they are opting to walk along the tracks — despite a sign warning that trespassers will be prosecuted.
This is not Noel’s first run-in with the Old Bill — he says he was once arrested for shoplifting.
His wildman brother is well-known to the boys in blue, however. He was in trouble with them after trespassing on a different set of lines in 1996, when he was cautioned after being caught carrying cocaine.
Sorry Noel, I didn’t mean to get you in trouble. And in the words of Crimewatch presenter NICK ROSS, don’t have nightmares. Good night.
