I seem to remember Noel mentioning doing a concept album or at least toying with the idea.
Could this be realistic for his first offering or is this too risky?

What exactly is a 'concept' album? If it's too risky, I don't think he's going to do a concept album, whatever that is. I do think his first album is going to sound like an Oasis album for the most part, but I can definitely see him going after a new sound later on.

He said WTSMG turned out to be an unintentional concept album, didn't he?

He said WTSMG turned out to be an unintentional concept album, didn't he? You could say that about most of Oasis' albums. But I don't know if he'll with a concept. He might. If he does, he won;t say that it's a concept album. You'll have to wait for 5-10 years before he hear someone ask him a question like, "So, what do you think was the central idea behind your first solo album." And then Noel will give an answer of "Oh, it was an unintentional concept album." Just like he did with DM, WTSMG, and SOTOG.

I think it was a Matt Pinfield interview he was talking about putting a story to the songs like Neil Young did with Greendale.
Who knows how serious Noel was about this 'concept' but when I first heard 'Bye bye my family I'm leaving' I thought it could be autobiographical - with this song detailing Noel leaving Manchester - and it could fit with a story of a main character leaving home to find his destiny.
It's unlikely Noel will follow through a full storyline but a more adventurous approach to the songs conceptually wouldn't be a bad idea.

Definitely Maybe is the most 'concept album' of all.
But I seem to remember Noel said in an interview a few months before Oasis split that he had already written the follow up to Dig Out Your Soul and that it had all been demoed. He was quoted as saying that 'the songs were all based around individuals'. Of course, they split up so maybe he's left it as his solo project? I think if today, Oasis were still together and Noel wrote the full album again it would be the best since Morning Glory no doubt. The Beady Eye members destroyed Dig Out Your Soul personally.

I do think his first album is going to sound like an Oasis album for the most part, but I can definitely see him going after a new sound later on. A concept album is an album where all the songs are linked by a particular theme as opposed to just a collection of songs. They were popular with prog rock bands in the 70s - Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is probably the most famous. A Grand Don't Come For Free by The Streets is probably the most commercially successful of the last decade if you're familiar with that (it's also a cracking album as well) - the album tells a story in chronological order and each song tells a different part of the story. Noel did hint at the follow up to DOYS being a concept album, but Noel talks a load of shite most of the time to be fair. As does Liam.

Why does Noel always see fit to keeping all his album details under wraps, he did this with Oasis also, it is very annoying and I think it could alienate people.
I know we could say it adds to the suspense BUT I do think Noel takes it too far at times, just give us a little sniff man!

I don't think anyone will really remember the frustration when the album comes out. We'll get sufficient information in the time leading up to the album release. It won't alienate any more people that those that would be annoyed by the artist talking about recording for a year before the album and still no release. All this frustration will be forgotten soon.
