Don't know if this has brought before, but does anyone know how big of an Oasis fan Elliott Smith was? I know that he did a cover of Supersonic, but I don't know if he just had a passing fancy, or if he was a really big fan.
Love Elliott Smith, and love that he had the balls to play this song. Unfortunately, this clip doesn't have the end, where he almost defends Oasis.

Yes, Elliott Smith liked Oasis according to "Elliott Smith and the Big Nothing" biography.
Page 195/196, prior to recording Basement...
"He (Smith) went through a huge britpop phase... he was changing his messages on the phone. One of them was him singing "Hey Now" by Oasis, and we'd be sneering like Liam, and he started playing Supersonic at shows... he was going through a big dumb rock phase, loving Oasis... he had the rock out. He was looking for drum sounds, electric guitar sounds. I think he was expanding his sonic pallate, his textures; he was mining for materials."

K+ The guy who said "big dumb rock phase" sounds like he his head up his ass. But fair enough, at least Elliott Smith liked them enough to be extremely interested and be a fan.

Smith was all about melodies, so I'm sure he loved some Oasis tracks.

Smith was an incredible song writer, they both obviously share a love of The Beatles (specifically Lennon). Such a shame about his death, imagine how great a collaboration between him and Noely G would be!
