Tut. If you were an English male you would understand! I understand about people caring about sport. What I don't get is people caring about how much the Gallaghers care about sport. I don't give a shit about how other people support the teams they support. Because, since Oasis day one, the Gallaghers have been absolutely associated with football and Man City. Pictured in the team shirts for their early photoshoots. Maine Road. Wembley Stadium. The Britpop scene was absolutely entrenched in football, culminating in the Lightening Seeds doing "Three Lions" during Euro 1996. See the Chris Evans TFI Friday interview from 1996 where Evans shows Noel a montage of Man City hero Kinkladze backed by Wonderwall. A song which was sung, with changed words, on the terraces at Man City during that time. Even to this day, Noel is on Talksport talking sport as much as he is doing music. He was the mascot for the Italian team during their World Cup win in 2006. The two cultures - football and music - are arm in arm. It's part of the Gallagher mythology just as Penny Lane was for the Beatles, or Oscar Wilde for The Smiths, or "Arcadia" for The Libertines.

Don't think we should look too much into the fact Noel missed his beloved City winning the cup. Probably booked that studio time months ago not even expecting City to get to the final and he could hardly reschedule if it's fully booked - which would mean the album being put back even further.

He said on Talksport that he had had to make a decision about whether he was gonna attend the semi-final or re FA final and he chose the semi-final.
It wasn't really realistic to be able to fly back and forth from LA for multiple games.

To be fair, he's a multi-millionaire several times over. Not much would be considered unreasonable for him. If he wanted to and didn't have prior commitments (which he did), he could have easily made the trip twice.

Defo a playful dig at Noel for not being at the Game. Quite fitting really.
Kick On City, get in there!!

And please don't say, "you're American and you don't understand". Sports passion is not centralized to one country and it's idiotic to even try to make that argument. Er... take a look at my avatar and my location. I'm a season ticket holder at Yankee Stadium - albeit in the nosebleeds! On that basis, I would prefer it if you didn't go with "idiotic". It's got NOTHING to do with the point you're making. It's got EVERYTHING to do with the fact that due to geographical context, the Gallaghers have been associated closely with football - in ENGLAND - for 15 years. Appearing on Soccer AM, Talksport, Match of the Day, etc. It's therefore surprising and NOTEWORTHY when Noel doesn't take a £700 weekend flight for Man City's biggest game in fifty years when his workrate isn't exactly ... ferocious. Liam also thought so too....

Just like even as a cricket fan and living where cricket was created I can't begin to appreciate the frenzied passion with which India and Pakistani fans approach the sport. Its not idiotic to make the distinction at all.

Plus all the times changes. I wouldn't blame him for not wanting to do it several times. And as you say....he obviously has commitments.

Its not idiotic to make the distinction at all. That's exactly the point I'm making! Hence why I originally said to gdforever "if you were an English male, you'd understand" (why it was a big deal that Noel missed the game). I was told it was idiotic for the exact OPPOSITE - that I didn't understand - "don't even try to say 'You're American and you don't undersand" - sports passion isn't centralized to one country and it's idiotic to make that argument". Although I live in the US, love baseball, have a season ticket at Yankee Stadium, I will never live & breathe it from birth like I do for football & Derby County, and like Noel does for Man City - who's been associated with that club ever since he stepped into the public eye. People are actively interested in his views, and he actively gives them. Which makes it surprising that Noel didn't move the earth to be there. I did when Derby got to the Playoff Final in 2007, and I flew back, and I don't have £50m in my bank account!

Give me a fucking break. Noels been moaning about a solo album for the past decade. only reason there's hype now is bc he's in LA and a video has been shot. Whom for all we know could possibly NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY(highly doubt this) he's not officially come out and made a public statement saying he's doing anything.

But if certain obligations and appointments were made in advance, which fell in that 48 hour period, then I think we can all excuse him for not being at the game in person. You can't blow off every appointment or obligation, especially if those things have been set up before hand. Noel had to miss that game for a good reason, and he has be in LA for 2 more weeks for a good reason. We've seen him blow other stuff off for matches before. Maybe this was one thing that he could not blow off. Anyways, we don't know, and we may never know.

So when I arrived back in 2007, I went to see the Mets fully intending to become a fan. However, felt nothing! Went to Yankee Stadium a couple of weeks later, and totally bought the myths and history surrounding Jeter, Posada, Rivera and the rest. It was done. Ironically soon after met a Red Sox fan who became my girlfriend - and soon to be fiancée - so that works out nicely! And finally - my team in England are Derby County. Never a chance of winning anything, and while the fanbase is great, our best days are long long gone now it's big business. So the Yanks give me a glamour and sense of scale I don't get being a long-suffering Derby fan!

he's definitely gonna regret not being there - that's for sure!
Like others have said - he could easily have been there - I mean look at Beckam - he's all over the place when he needs to be.

Why are we discussing this? I find amazing that some people are not grateful and happy about the fact that he stayed on LA working on an album we are eagerly waiting for

That's what we do here, talk about any new developments while updates are scarce. This doesn't need to be explained every time.
