Could be, if Noel actually wasn't there... But that's a really long shot of course,

Am I the only one whose kind of happy that he missed this match. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but Noel wouldn't have missed something like for something that he wouldn't be releasing anytime soon. Isn't this a good sign that we'll definitely be getting something before the fall of this year.
So yeah, I'm actually happy that he missed this. At least he missed it for musical reasons. Hopefully this means that he's actually trying to meet some kind of a deadline.

City is his personal love, to let business prevent him from such a glorious moment in making for the past 35yrs....smh

If this is directed at Noel, it's simply pure class. Nothing nasty, a nice bit of banter between aggrieved brothers which gets the message across at the same time. Love it.

Actually, it was mainly the (potentially fake) news stories about Liam breaking into a house 20 years ago, and Noel's war with Gary Neville that made me think of the following point, but the City talk just compounds my argument -- I think this shows that Oasis/the Gallaghers are still very much relevant, at least in the UK. I think that is quite amazing, to be honest - a band that were deemed a decade past their peak, and 2 years broken up still get asked for interviews about their interests. Unbelievable, really. The old adage goes: Is it better to burn out or to fade away.....It may just be possible to say Oasis never did neither in the eyes of the British public. I still think Oasis have been institutionalized into the fabric of English society, although I know some on here disagree to that.

In an interview at the final with ESPN, Liam dedicated the day to 'all the LA blues who couldn't make it out today...lightweights.'
What Man City fans do we know that are stuck in L.A?

The reason why Noel and Liam are still relevant and interesting to wider society in Britain is because no other proper rock n roll stars have come along and shook it up since. Liam and Noel were the last great rock n roll stars and that is sad in itself. If proper rock n roll stars come along Liam and Noel will be dropped like a bag of shit. As much as I love them both here's hoping that they are because it'll mean that rock n roll has been saved from the slow death that it has been dying from since August 1997. Noel and Liam are keeping it alive at the minute but not through their music, through their personalities.

I don't give a shit about how other people support the teams they support.

No, not even after death. Paul and Ringo still sell out shows wherever they go, and are adored public figures. Noel and Liam seem to have been adopted in this fashion, and with a little luck (and some quality solo work) they will remain loved, remembered, and consulted for opinions well into old age, just like all their "wrinkly rocker" forebears. I think NL4E is absolutely right. Music that truly touches people's hearts doesn't just get shovelled onto the rubbish pile of history, it get written down and sung again, and Oasis have made that cut without a doubt. And as long as 13 year olds can hear an awesome album, and then pick up a guitar, rock and roll won't die. It won't be the same as it was before, but it can't be dead until I am dead too, and I'm sure there will be others after me to keep the flame burning.

No I meant that when a new couple of rock n roll personalities come along the majority of Britain won't care as much about what the Gallaghers have to say just like you never hear Paul McCartney's views on things now. It's happened time and time again in Britain anyway, not sure about Denver.

Tut. If you were an English male you would understand! I understand about people caring about sport. What I don't get is people caring about how much the Gallaghers care about sport. I don't give a shit about how other people support the teams they support. Completely agree. If Noel missed the match because he was truly trying to work on his solo album, then for me as a MUSIC fan, he made the right decision. I really don't give a shit if the Gallaghers are "true fans" or not. Doesn't really matter to me. If it does to other people that they're willing to expound on what is a true fan or not, then I suggest that they get from behind their computer screen and get a life. And please don't say, "you're American and you don't understand". Sports passion is not centralized to one country and it's idiotic to even try to make that argument. But as much as I'm passionate (and I am passionate) about my sports team, I wouldn't give a shit whether any pop/rock star were to be a true fan or not. All that matters to me, is my own "fandom". Whether they've made it part of their image to be a fan or not, I don't care. What the Gallaghers do with the supporting of their own team, is their own business. And they don't need people in front of their computer screens, to tell them how they should act or support their team. That's all I'm saying on a subject, that probably should never have been raised in the first place.
