What is the best song on the Different Gear, Still Speeding album?
For me it is a toss up between The Roller and Bring The Light. The Roller, for me, is just an Oasis/John Lennon song and ranks very highly in my own musical world. Bring The Light is just, despite it's original criticism from me, a brilliant, brilliant tune! I really do love it. I also think they do them both very well live (For anyone is the one Liam just can't seem to nail live...which was inevitable really).
What are your thoughts?

Its either FLW or TRC they both are straight to the point. Wigwam could have been there if the "Im coming Up" outro had something else and I dont know why Liam said that it was like I am the resurrection

Four Letter Word by a wide margin over other decent tunes like For Anyone, The Beat Goes On, Three Ring Circus. and The Morning Son.
FLW is the only song on the album that truly rocks! 3RC gets close but not quite there. For me the album starts off brilliant with FLW and then it kinda doesn't go anywhere from there because the best tune has already been played. Other tracks are good when listened to individually but not as much when the whole album is played.

The Morning Son is just freaking amazing.
Wigwam is pretty close, too.

The Morning Son. Love the melody. How Liam sings it. The guitar/synth solo, or whatever you wanna call it. And the lyrics speaks to me, and where I am in my life today. Especially: "I stand alone, nobody knows". A perfect song in my opinion. I cried the first ten times I listened to the track. I don't have to say more than that, really.

Four Letter Word is my favorite, as it easily could have been an Oasis lead single post-BHN. TBGO and TR are great too - all the others have small flaws (like the lyrics on BTL and the unnecessarily long outros to TMS, Wigwam and BTL).

I really don't understand how someone can think The Roller and Bring The Shite are the 2 best songs on the album . To each his own i guess...

For me its Millionaire, just love the melody in it, its even better when it sunny outside, a good summer tune. To be honest i dont think there are any weak tunes on the album.

Where have all the TBGO fans gone? Finally realized it's not as special as The Masterplan? About time!

The Morning Son & Wigwam.
They're both something special. Not just ordinary songs.

Four Letter Word is the only tune I would play for friends and not be remotely embarrassed by.

You must be hanging out with the proper 'indie' crowd, they probably wouldn't like it on the strengh that it sold more than 5 copies and wasn't recorded under a table in a student house with friends playing kitchen implements as accompaniment.
Its fair enough you don't like it, I personally don't think its amazing myself but its not embarrassing by any stretch of the imagination.

Its fair enough you don't like it, I personally don't think its amazing myself but its not embarrassing by any stretch of the imagination. I should rephrase. Four Letter Word is the only tune I love all the way through. Every part kicks derriere and Liam's vocal is undeniably monstrous. I find fault with all the others (bar Three Ring Circus). For example, Millionaire's vocals are too nasal. I know already people won't much like it for that alone. Good tune though. With The Roller, the vocals are too throaty and nasal and it's just kind of a boring song (never mind that it's a blatant ripoff of All You Need Is Love/Instant Karma). I could go on but I think you get the picture... There's plenty to like about this record, but there's also plenty not to like.

The Morning Son is epic. Liam's best penned song so far and the production on it is perfect.
The Beat Goes On, Four Letter Word, Wigwam, The Roller and Bring The Light are all great. Not one bad song on this brilliant album!

So it looks like Four Letter Word, The Morning Sun and the Roller are people's choice with Wigwam and TBO not far behind. Those are my top 5. To choose 1, its the Morning Son. Brilliant song. I also think Wigwam is awesome on Liam's part and I want more tunes like that from him.
Also I must say their b-sides are very strong for b-sides. WOMR is really good, their two covers are well done and even Man of Misery sounds better since it was re-done. Also, when I heard Two of a Kind I thought it was awful but it has grown so much I find it easily better than some album tracks.
