Hi Guys not sure if you guys like it or not but it's something i really hate when Oasis did it and now Beady Eye is miming on these tv shows ? I'm confused why Liam does this as he says he doesn't like to sound check cause it's faking it well if that's the case what must he think of not singing live ? what do other fans think of this i also understand reaching different countries and all that and it's the only chance they get to see the band but serious. Just do what you do best SING LIVE

still quite some TV shows do mimming. oasis did it on a dutch tv show in 2005 too. there're good shows with live performance like jools and jonathan ross, but sadly just a few.

A lot of the time it's because the TV show itself can't bothered to set it all up properly and everyone mimes on the show. When they go on a show that allows bands to sing live eg Jolls Holland, then they sing live. To me it's down to the shows not the band as when given the opotunity Liam will always sing live.

Ofcourse it's nicer if it's live, but publicity is also important! So if these shows only let bands mime then it's better to still go there and mime than to not to the show at all and have no publicity..

I think that the reason they do the miming has more to do with the TV show not having the capabilities to do the high quality live recordings than anything to do with the band

It has nothing to do with the band. It's the TV show's that decide it......

Really...it's either mime...or not being on at all. Rest assured they don't like it...but nobody gets everything they want.

Everybody mimes at TOTP, it sucks but it's the standard procedure

Everybody mimes at TOTP, it sucks but it's the standard procedure Isn't it to ensure the band actually sings the song they were intended to? I have a feeling the the Smiths went on TOTP and performed something different? Anyone?

Question: Surely the band aren't playing live because the music would most likely be out of sync with the vocals being played by the studio version. So with that being said, when we see Chris banging away and Gem and co. strumming their guitars, how is that possible? I'm sure there's an easy explanation here, but I'm overlooking it.

I'd imagine the instruments just aren't turned on and as such you can't hear them over the record playing.

Good bands know how to play to a playback track, that's how music videos are shot. Hardest for the drummer and the vocalist as their imperfections are most visible on closeups. Some shows broadcast a mix ( 25 % live 75% playback ) it ensures an OK performance on an off day.

TBH, I could give a fuck about lip-synching on rigged-up/scripted Tv shows. It's all about the live gigs that matter to me.
