yeh but that still sounds better than "hear my song, sing along" Thats just "lets try our hardest to make this song rhyme" He has written some great lyrics though liam, particullarly on born on a different clowd. And he's written about 6 songs for the new one is it so i reckon that two of them will great ;D.

Lyrics don't neccesarily make a great song and great songs don't neccesarily need great lyrics!
I'm reserving judgements on every song until I hear the album!

yeh but that still sounds better than "hear my song, sing along" Thats just "lets try our hardest to make this song rhyme" yeah when i read those lyrics i nearly threw up. god awful garbage. The full lyrics were printed in the sun or NME i think? and they were so bad. hopefully they were someones idea of a joke! hopefully the whole song is a joke... the only people who can get away with lyrics like "song, sing a long" are peeps like Michael Stipe....

Just take this into account, if you'd never heard Supersonic before and you were just given a sheet with the lyrics on, would you predict it to be a live classic and one of the best rock n roll tracks of the 90's? Likewise Shakermaker possibly!
They say don't judge a book by it's cover and so you shouldn't judge a song merely by it's lyrics when you haven't heard it!

Likewise Shakermaker possibly! They say don't judge a book by it's cover and so you shouldn't judge a song merely by it's lyrics when you haven't heard it! you make a good point about the Supersonic lyrics, and i agree that often it can be how words sound rather than what they mean, that makes a song But i read the whole alleged lyrics to that song - and they were crap. no two ways about it! ;D But of course i will reserve judgement on the song until it is released

A lot of Oasis lyrics (if you havent heard the songs before) look shit on paper. But then you play it with a full band, or even just Noel on his acoustic, then they just change into a masterpeice (most of the time anyway!!)
I never heard The Fame up until 5 months ago and I read the lyrics before and I thought, well, apart from the line about cocaine, it just looks a bit average. When i finally heard it, it blew my mind.
It all comes down to the melody of the song. Its like rap music, theres no melody, so its all shite. Rock n roll, I think is the only type of music that uses melody to the full, thats why its the best!

however, there is some bad exceptions: Who Feels Love..maybe if you read the lyrics first, you won't think it terrible, but after listening to it..

no i really like who feels love. Youve got a point with supersonic though imean "i need to be myself, i cant be no one else" doesn't exactly sound great when your just reading them.
however the line that goes "i no a girl called elsa she's into alka seltzer she sniffs it through a caine on a supersonic train" sounds great i cant really remember one line from "aint got nothing on me" or whatever its called, that impressed me.
