We didn't even have the band's name! That occurred on May 25! ( www.nme.com/news/oasis/51231) What a ride it's been - From complaining about the name, to Bring The Light shocking the forum in the late fall, while the likes of Sons of the Stage brought back some faith, which was fully restored by the boxing day release of Four Letter Word. Then we got the track listing, name of the album, the release date, and then the leak on Valentine's Day - which was, of course, imminent. And then an added bonus - Liam sounding fantastic during the tour! All with crazy riddles and banter abound in between it all. Bring on album 2, and Noel's release as well.

Haha nice one, indeed, it's been one hell of a ride. I wasn't expecting the album to be any better as a compilation of SB, IOT, IBIA, GGTIA, BWTB, KTDA, HIABP, etc..
But oh yes, it was =)
Can't wait to go through all the same things again with the solo album from Noel!

Good times! I remember hearing the 30 second clip and I was so excited. It turned out to be SOTS and then we got Bring The Shite and I got worried. Everything worked out and we got a good album.

I was up at 2am downloading BTL & ordering the vinyl, took forever to download & i got really pissed & thought what the hell is this!? cos you know they released that 20 second teaser riff. I was slightly disappointed it all the 30 second leaks, I was hoping for an all rock n roll album, i have no idea why, but I love all Beady Eyes tunes now, going to see the lads live at Toronto (its a graduation gift from my parents, I also got that rare HC Oasis Jean Jacket (I'm spoiled xD). My favorite Beady Eye song is Two Of A Kind.

Lol what a mess this place was when BTL was released.. I didn't think it to represent the general sound of the album but I was still confused since it was not BDI's LF like everyone was hoping for. I remember putting it on my MP3 and listening to it over and over again with my desperate hope of getting it grown on me.. ;D

i remember being EXTREMELY disappointed when i first heard 'bring the light' , i actually laughed out loud during my first listen, i thought it was a joke! but now, i like the track, and the album as a whole is great, i can even tolerate soteotn now without hitting 'skip' , but i just wish lillywhite hadn't put all that distortion on liam's voice.

Dissenting voice here - I was absolutely DELIGHTED at Bring The Light, and still am. Sounded nothing like Oasis, took me by surprise in a good way and that's exactly what I wanted.
Love that tune! So much energy - which is something we hadn't heard from Oasis for years and years.

So much energy - which is something we hadn't heard from Oasis for years and years. Same, I loved Bring The Light and still do. Something different which was great to hear. Liam absolutely gives it his all in that song and the pace is frantic. Critics seemed to enjoy it, why not the majority of Oasis fans? Can't believe the hate it gets when others would of preferred boring, uninspired, terrible, safe rockers like Ain't Got Muffins.

Didn't know what to think of BTL. I didn't think it was bad, but I didn't think it was good either. I thought it was bad for a "first song", but I didn't think it was a bad song.
BTL kind of summed up DGSS for me. No bad songs, but no great song either. Just some decent-slightly good songs, with suspect songwriting, a good voice, and good production. Nothing more, nothing less. In hindsight, BTL did tell us what the album would be like in a way.

Can't wait for Beady Eye to get back in the studio and improve upon their debut album.

Re: Bring The Light, I was very underwhelmed by it. Thought it was amateurish and overly long. I was embarrassed *for* them. Had been planning to send it around as I had assumed it was gonna be a barn burner, but decided to pretend I hadn't heard it. Hearing Four Letter Word and then the 30 second clips easily renewed my interest, however.

I liked BTL when it came out... but I immediately said to my friends sitting at school with me, when I put it on at 10 AM, "It's The Beatles!"... It took a while to really grow on me, but it's now one of the most played songs on my iTunes! I'm secretly glad that BDI is not really Oasis... It's a new chapter in the Gallagher story, music and life... Roll on the future!

this is the first Oasis/Beady Eye album that I witnessed the whole process. I enjoyed every moment of hope, worry, excitement, and pride. Millions of thanks to the band, and this forum.

It's really fun when some news are imminent and everybody here goes nuts - even the dozens of trolls are funny in their way. And the day the 30 seconds clips first leaked was a very good one indeed.

I was very underwhelmed with Bring The Light. I don't mind it as much now, but the lyrics are piss poor and cliched, and the melody is lifted directly from Jerry Lee Lewis. For a promotional song it was horrendous.
Four Letter Word was a marked improvement, and although I'm a bit non-plussed on The Roller, it was the signature tune that they needed.
