Not sure if this is interesting to anyone else but in the new Rolling Stone (US) there is a short interview with Ray Davies and when asked what music he likes nowadays he answers with Beady Eye and says some nice things about Liam.
Ray is a personal idol of mine so I thought that this was kind of cool.

He's a big name, name dropping Beady Eye and saying they are a good band could just add to their attraction a little.

Ray is one of the greatest songwriters of all time, maybe some of his fans will give BDI a listen.  I think both Noel and Liam like the Kinks as well - wasn't a Kinks album in those favorite ten he named a few weeks ago? |

He must like Ray. He doesn't mention the Kinks a lot though. But they get mentioned quite a bit in the Oasis press anyways. Fighting siblings etc. |

Not sure what exactly that makes Ray and Liam but it sure shows that the UK is a very small island  And I think it's great that Ray likes Beady Eye and also that he mentions them in a RS interview. I'm sure some Kinks fans who haven't heard of them before are going to check them out now. I totally would. |

I didn't mean to suggest that Liam and Ray Davies are all of a sudden related by blood. I just thought that it was a cool coincidence, so why not mention it in a thread about the two of them.

I think the Kinks were a big influence in Noel's songwriting. And I'm positive he did mentioned them in the past. When I'm listening to The Kinks I can't help but thinking in Oasis, mainly because of the lyrics: very straightforward. Maybe it's just me but meh.

Ray has some alright taste in modern music. Spoon and Beady Eye, good enough for me.

Who knows who Liam's influences are beyond Lennon and Ian Brown though. |

Really glad he talked about them, Rolling Stone has been so nasty to Beady Eye its become ridiculous, I dunno if anyone mentioned this...it was in the Rolling Stone about two weeks ago on their charts section in the back. They sometimes have blurbs about the artists and Beady Eye was at 31 and it read something like "Lazy Eye, sad Noel-less Oasis"...mine you this is a mag that has Rihanna's ass on the cover a week ago.....  |
