...after leaving The Cribs. The former Smiths guitarist joined the Wakefield band four years ago. He's posted a comment he made to Billboard on his official website, saying, "I'm working on new solo songs. I'll be putting out two records over the next year or so and doing more film soundtrack work." He collaborated with Hans Zimmer on the soundtrack to Inception - which was nominated for a BAFTA and an Oscar. "Touring and recording with Ryan, Gary and Ross has been fantastic and Ignore The Ignorant is something I'm really proud of. We ended up doing much more than we originally set out to, and I've made three good friends," he added. Meanwhile The Cribs have accepted his decision with grace, posting a reposonse on their website saying they don't want to see it as a split. "The truth is that, as Johnny said, we did more than we ever set out to do together really - we were initially just playing together as friends, and decided it might be fun to do a trademark Cribs 'surprise one-off seven inch' or something of that ilk, but as we went along we just kept writing," they added. The band have also described it as an "exciting phase for everyone". www.xfm.co.uk/news/2011/johnny-marr-leaves-cribsI quite liked the work he did with The Cribs

Did somebody call me? ;D Johnny has always been a working man and he loves keep moving. What he made with The Cribs was fantastic. Also he brought me Modest Mouse which I had never heard before. Not many people know that, but he's produced a couple of brilliant albums in past and don't forget his Healers too. I'll follow my forever guitar hero whereever he goes (I'm not a stalker, lol) and good luck with whatever you're gonna do Johnny! The greatest and coolest guitar player on this planet.

He improved the Cribs, definitely. He said there'll be two albums in the next year or so, hopefully a second Healers album and that Ian Brown project
