Published: Today Add a comment Add a comment (3) NOEL GALLAGHER is thought to have turned down more than £1million to replace SIMON COWELL on X Factor.
Music mogul Simon told the former OASIS guitarist to "name his price" to fill his judging slot on the hit ITV talent show.
But Noel, 43, said he did not need the cash and wanted to focus on his music career instead – because he had "a duty" to stop brother Liam's band BEADY EYE "stinking up the bottom of the charts".
A source revealed multi-millionaire Si, 51, offered a "head-spinning amount of cash", adding: "Noel could name his price.
"Simon promised global fame and a crack at the US panel in future years. He was setting it up for him to make the show his own and fill his boots."
But Simon also wanted Noel to put his music career on the backburner to focus full time on X Factor. And with his first solo material on the horizon, Noel refused.
The future of judges DANNII MINOGUE and LOUIS WALSH is still undecided, although both are expected to return.

Why is everyone thinking this is real? It's from the SUN ffs. And I don't think Noel hates Beady Eye. He was the biggest fan of Liam's songwriting...

Yeah the bit about Beady Eye really doesn't sound like him.
(though, in the unlikely case of this being confirmed as true quote, I'd be really surprised that he was having a go at the whole band not just Liam)

Lol the Sun.
It's believable though cause Simon Cowell said he wanted Noel on the show before. I don't Noel would have ever said yes.
I reckon the quote could be legit but just targeted at Liam. Typical brothers slagging each other off.

I still think it would be cool if Noel was a guest judge.

Even if this story was 'true', then the '1 Million' fee is a paltry sum in relation to the earning power that Noel can command-potentially--if his solo career takes off, which has the potential to 'go ballistic'.
Let's face it, even us dudes and dudettes could get through I million quid in a few years fairly easily, [being conservative, without 'living it up!']and I doubt if this sum today would keep Our Kid in smoked salmon sandwiches and champagne 'elevenses' for very long.....Noel is accustomed to living a lavish lifestyle befitting a King, and this article is correct in the sense that he can 'name his fee' regarding tempting him into Cowell's media circus, but the sum cited is mere chickenfeed, and definately to be scoffed at.
Noel will stick to crafting songs and releasing music, it's only second-division losers who need the prop of Trash TV.

I would watch the show if Noel was on it because his comments would be hilarious, but I'm glad he turned it down. He would have been a sellout if he accepted it, and would lose so much credibility - as one user pointed out

I come on! Wouldn't you guys love to see Noel get assigned an act like Jedward? I think that would be one of the funniest things I would ever be able to see. LOL
But I agree with whoever said. Seriously, selling his musical credibilty for only 1 million pounds?

Noel Gallagher would never, never, NEVER be involved in any way with any reality show to do with music. Take it to the bank.

If Cowell had any sense, he would deposit one million English pounds into Noel's bank balance, and arrange for him to be chauffeur-driven to the airport, where a luxury private jet would whisk Noel out to the States.
Media coverage of Noel's guest involvement on ONE SHOW only would guarantee massive publicity in Britain, swelling the viewing figures to soaring heights. Even if it required Noel simply televising his comments in by satellite-----with him sipping champagne against a paradise island backdrop-----all he has to do is slag off a load of talentless would-bes, then jets off back to England a million quid richer.
Cowell gets higher ratings and 'proper' credibility, and also the show improves radically, becoming actually watchable for real music fans.
The best million quid Cowell could ever spend---WITHOUT the embarassment of Noel actually having to step inside a tacky TV studio with screaming cretin audiences, smarmy panel ' co-stars' etc.

why is anyone bothered what he does? we listen to his music we're not his bloody parents. as long as his music is good i'm happy Totally. We all know that Noel would never buy into the concept...so even if he did go on he'd be funny and irreverent about it and still probably not lose cred in my eyes. And some of those kids on there could do with seeing and being mentored by someone with more talent than Kylie Minogues sister. LOL

I still think there is nowt wrong with Noel picking up a cool I MILL for a weekend's work, if Cowell were simply to bankroll a live interview from Gallagher on the final show [which could be built up as the main attraction in all preceding weekly shows] ; again, the location of a tropical paradise seems ideal to me, Noel could even be a bit tipsy, taking the piss out of the whole setup, refusing to take it seriously, etc...
It wouldn't do his rock-star image any harm, and he would be kept away from the sleazy TV studio side of things. A weekend's 'work' from Noel---as well as generous expenses on top of the 1M FEE funded by Cowell----would translate into higher ratings-figures, and much-needed credibility for this show, which is currently clapped-out and past it.
Noel has every right to snub this idea, though...it's only a million quid, pure peanuts in the grand scheme of things.

But he can't reject all of them. Thus, he would be voting to support something he is entirely against, and by doing so would compromise his credibility. Noel, Liam, Oasis, etc has always been about being real and being true to yourself. To see Noel vote in favor of some singers on XFactor or American Idol or whatever - shows he's constantly criticized - would just not be fitting of the man himself. Good for Noel rejecting it (although he would replace Simon well with the criticisms!)

i wouldn't be surprised to see an Oasis week though?? maybe Noel might do that especially if it ties in with promotion for his album at the time??

It looks very much like the 1 Million offer [if true] is not nearly enough to entice Noel to the table......if Cowell is serious, he will have to up the stakes to 2 Mill if Noel is even to express interest. To sweeten the deal further, Cowell will have to put Noel up in a top-class luxury hotel, where over the weekend where his services are utilized.....as is expected of a rock-star of his standing.
Noel must also be given the option to pull the plug on his live appearences if it becomes clear that ITV are the taking the piss out of him during the live transmissions...and his 2M fee will NOT be returnable. Furthermore, ITV/Cowell should hold worldwide rights on the Noel appearences for a period of 6 months, after which---after all the publicity has died down--------Global rights regarding Gallagher's appearences on the X-Factor footage should revert to him exclusively, and any further monies generated from the deal are transferred to Noel's assets.
Whether Noel, or indeed ITV/Cowell will agree to these terms is open to question.
