In what way are they maturing? The brilliant lyrics are gone, the once catchy melodies are stripped down, sound primitive, and the rhythms for which they are known for are not even a shadow of what they were Well said buddy and this applies to all the other bands who do the same, Radiohead anyone?......what's progressive or maturing about alienating 98% of the buying public who put you where you are?. Fair enough if you don't like the music your making then split and go your own path musically. As stated previously I like the Arctic's but Brick by Brick and Don't sit down are substandard Arctic Monkeys tracks......Nothing mature, progressive or forward thinking about them....Seems to me that Alex has had enough of the band or his vault of songs is running dry.........Lyrics in the 2 songs stated above are dreadful, "Go to business with a grizzly bear?" that's writing words for the sake of it.....Hope the album proves me wrong and is better than this current drivel there releasing

I think the point of maturing and progressing is, ultimately, realizing that you need to make the music that you wan't to make, not what your audience wants.
And that's what they're doing, so good for them.

I think its a good tune. Sounds like Humbug but also like FWN, which is a good balance.
I'm sure the album will have plenty of songs with more depth, the last 2 records have been a breath of a fresh air in the UK. Stepping away from the indie tag and making music that doesnt really get heard in the mainstream.
They are definitely trying to break the US though. Look at the number of US dates in the last tour, added to the fact that this new sound they have was born really in sessions done in the US. I expect another US heavy tour this year.

i hope you're right! They're coming here in May and coming back in August for some festivals, I hope they come back later this year as I'll be missing their May show here.

They're coming to the 930Club in DC, but it's already sold out, so I missed them this time round. Saw them in Dec 2009 at the same venue though, and had a fantastic time.

I'm loving the new track - very catchy. Also the video is cool as fuck. Minus the Sheffield Wednesday clips of course.

Video is a bit trippy, like it all the same. Are they Wednesday fans? Wasn't sure if any of them were heavily into football.

Yeah they're from the wrong end of the city unfortunately. I know Jamie Cook plays football still, so I'm guessing he supports them. I know Andy Nicholson was a Blade though - probably why he left, haha.

Saw them in Stockholm last week. Great gig, and the crowd was mad fer it. But way to short! They only played for 70 minutes! Brick By Brick grew live, and the best new song that we hadn't heard before was That's Where You're Wrong, I think.

Library Pictures: Hellcat: Don't Sit Down:
Fucking great stuff, Library Pictures goes from Whatever People Say to Humbug in 3 minutes. I dig Hellcat too, it's looking like we got the two weakest songs first.

Hellcat is good. Not so sure about Library Pictures, they played it on Jools Holland last night and it sounds like an old b-side to me.

It sounds like it would fit on Da Frame 2R/Matador EP which is a good thing in my books. For those wondering about why everyone goes on about them being mature, well here's perfect proof of very mature song writing. Their journey from Whatever People Say to their upcoming album is an astonishing one, they prove their worth with every album and have become a such a unique voice in modern British music.
