Not what I was expecting at all, cannot wait to hear the full tune. Sounds dark like the second record.....the sound that I was after.

Three total tracks for this record out now.
Brick By Brick Dont Sit Down Piledriver Waltz
Piledriver Waltz may have been re-recorded, but it could be the same one on the Submarine soundtrack. Its great as it is, so I cant complain.

The record is shaping up to be class. I listened to the interview Alex gave on Radio 1 and he said that the new record is going to have a mix of all 3 past albums.

I like Dont Sit Down but it dosnt has the feeling of a lead off single, hope the album will blow my mind I think you're wrong. Its a good leadoff. It doesnt really matter with bands like the Monkeys anymore. They can put out anything and it will perform just based on the name.

Short, sweet, and to the point. I dig it, especially how the chorus sneaks up on you. I think the NME said there's a kind of mischievous fun with the album that was missing from Humbug and I agree, I hear what they mean. It's a nice start so far, can't wait to see them next month.

Wow this is ridiculously bad...
edit: listened to it again. I really think they should have called it quits after the second album. Humbug wasn't good and this is even worse tbh.

Hmm, it's not that bad... But when they said it would sound nothing like Humbug I kind of hoped it would be more like the first two again, which it is obviously not.. Shame, cause those first 2 albums were epic!
I've seen them live last year, presenting Humbug, and that was a MAJOR dissapointment. So I guess I will not be checking them out this year..

They've done a great job with Humbug. Very clever to try something new although they're still very young.

Humbug took me awhile to appreciate, and while it does lack fun, it's a pretty solid and mature album. I still think, while good, their debut is grossly overrated.
'Chair sounds fine on first listen. Not stunning. Brick by Brick is shit though. It's almost as bad as Dangerous Animal.
Waltz is the best of the 3, though. No idea where his lyrical prowess went on the other 2 songs, though.

Waltz is the best tune. I'm somewhat worried that they might be turning into somewhat a QOTSA cover band... Humbug was decent enough. Tunes aren't bad and they are maturing but I keep hearing Homme's influence on their new stuff and to be honest i'm not a huge fan of him.

Yeah, you can definately hear Homme since he started working with them. Personally, I think it's a good fit. Can't say I'm a big fan of QOTSA but I do like the production on their later albums.

In what way are they maturing? The brilliant lyrics are gone, the once catchy melodies are stripped down, sound primitive, and the rhythms for which they are known for are not even a shadow of what they were
