Beady Eye‘s Andy Bell has spoken about Noel Gallagher’s comments directed at Jay-Z nearly three years ago, claiming that Noel is actually a fan of the rapper.
Back in 2008 Noel Gallagher slammed Glastonbury for their decision to let Jay-Z headline the festival, saying “I’m not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong.”
However in an exclusive feature with Pitchfork Andy Bell revealed that he wasn’t sure why his former Oasis bandmate said what he did as he is actually a fan. Andy said whilst picking some of his favourite albums for the online magazine: “I think Noel likes Jay-Z anyway.
“I don’t know what he was talking about when he made that comment. That’s his opinion; that’s not my opinion at all. But, in terms of actually liking Jay-Z’s music, I’m pretty certain that Noel was a fan as much as anyone else. Noel himself has said he likes Jay Z.
Not really news.
I wouldn't guess he's a 'fan' but he said several time in the fall out of the Glastonbury fiasco that "for the record I like Jay-Z"
Wouldn't bet on finding and Jay-Z on his iPod though

Noel doesn't actually dislike Jay-Z and I hate how the press went on for MONTHS about this supposed feud between Jay-Z and Noel that never actually existed.

I know. It isn't hard to figure out that he meant that Glastonbury had a legacy of rock bands headlining and he thought that the reason the tickets hadn't flown out when the headliners were announced might have had something to do with the fact that he wasn't the biggest artist amongst many of the regular attendees. At least that is how I took it.
Hardly as if Noel was expressing a deep and abiding hatred of Jay-Z's music.

Yup. In case anyone hasn't seen it, Noel says so himself in this interview. He was only talking about why Glastonbury, typically a guitar-based festival, wasn't keeping on pace for ticket sales that year.
