thequietus.com/articles/06013-beady-eye-on-their-13-favourite-records?page=1Nice read Laim on the Stone Roses: "Ian Brown as a frontman had the look and he was cool as fuck. He was my Elvis. The first time I saw them, that was it! I thought, “I want that!” I’d heard our kid play ‘Sally Cinnamon’ round the house and I went to see them just before the album came out and it was like, “This is it, man! This is the next fucking step!” It was like growing up a bit and you’re thinking, “This is the band that’s going to guide me to chicks and being a cool young man.” You know what I mean?""

It seems like Andy Bell and Liam's taste are a bit more spread out. Interesting that Liam didn't mention Hendrix, and when talking about double albums, he just said cut them off with Electric Ladyland etc. And Bell liking Simon and Garfunkel is pretty interesting too. I thought Noel was the only Simon and Garfunkel fan in the group.
Andy's taste were a lot more interesting than Liam's, Liam went with artists that I expected him to go with. There was really no surprise in what he said.

There was really no surprise in what he said. Except for the unbelievable fact that they do not mention a Beatles album

Loved this bit - Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols LG: It just makes you wanna slap some vagina, doesn’t it? I’m having them over The Clash - they were a proper punk band for me. I don’t think too much about it but it’s in us all, that record.

All of them are expected (except Simon and Garfunkel, nice pick wing commander Bell!) I love lists like this though. They're pretty much the same influences that they flagged with Oasis, but this reminds me of when I was first getting into Oasis and how they helped me get into all of those other bands. I wouldn't be listening to The Stone Roses, The La's, early Bee Gees, etc without Oasis to guide me.

Anyways what he said about the Sex Pistols being better than The clash is pretty dumb as well. Maybe its because the songwriting is the same between the Pistols and Liam bland and boring

Anyways what he said about the Sex Pistols being better than The clash is pretty dumb as well. Maybe its because the songwriting is the same between the Pistols and Liam bland and boring I would tend to agree with Liam on the Sex Pistols bit. In terms of being a TRUE punk band, The Sex Pistols are much closer than The Clash. The Clash are a great band, but if you asked me "who is the archetypal Punk Rock Band?", I'd say the Sex Pistols. They never planned anything, they didn't give a shit what people thought of them, and they really just turned the dial up to 10 and smashed it. The Clash on the other hand were extremely image conscious, they did care what people said about them, they did plan things out, and there was less of that devil may care attitude that makes Punk, Punk and Rock, Rock. And I think that you're taking the vagina thing a bit too seriously. There's nothing wrong with having a laugh.

Nice list. And obviously no they were not going to list any Beatles, Stones or Who albums... how interesting would that have been? It'd have been 13 albums by Liam's obvious heroes.
I think that the point was to dig a bit deeper and give us fans some insights as their personal music collection, and perhaps some new albums to run out and buy... (I'm loving "Forever Changes" since reading this article...)
I'm just glad that Andy didn't go on rambling about his techno noise pop junk that he likes to spin.
