Who cares who does backing vocals, you're there to hear Liam sing the song, not decipher the tone of a fucking backing vocal. I highly disagree, and I normally don't with you. Backing vocals add depth to a song. In fact, it's one of my favorite parts on the studio version of TGITDS. And who can forget that epic performance of CNS at Maine Road - which much be credited to Noel's performance as equally as it is to Liam's. The way Noel harmonized with Liam was special and magical. It's one of several missing elements from BDI. It's good, I'll agree to disagree. When I listen to a bootleg I don't listen for the backing vocals. If the backing vocals are terrible and Liam sounds ace then I wouldn't enjoy it any less

They are not the be all and end all but I do appreciate great backing vocals like Noel used to give. I think they add an extra dimension much like a great guitar solo or bassline.
Must add that so far Gem & Andy have really impressed with backing vocals, especially live. When all 3 voices sing together it sounds really cool, listen to the part in BTL where the guitars drop out and all 3 of them are just going for it. Mega!

I distinctly recall endless moaning about Noel's backing vocals during the DOYS tour.

Noel's backing vocals got on my tits during the 2005 and 2008 tours as they completely drowned out Liam's vocals. I can see why people were so fond of the early days backing vocals though.

It's horses for courses, I loved the NG backing vocals on Slide Away, Songbird, Shock of the Lightning. In particular To Be Where There's Life with both their vocals prominently in the front of the mix sounded incredible, a million times better than the DOYS version.
I Am The Walrus on the recent tours... Noel wasn't singing a harmony.. I'm not sure what he intended but it sounded like completely atonal shite to my ears which made me despise it every time they played it - he should have just done the whooos and let Liam alone to sing Walrus IMO.

Reminder that the full show is on tonight. Just looking on the BBC website, they've put up Millionaire and it sounds to me as if it's been re-recorded, Liam's vocals sound clearer to me, and he doesn't flick his hand towards the mic on the last beat as he did on the live transmission. www.bbc.co.uk/later/EDIT: Yeah, defo another take, on the website version Liam takes a breath whilst singing the last but one "Mill-ionaire", not on the TV version.

I've been watching it. Have they done the whole programme again cause the programme on Tuesday seems like it picked parts of this programme and mixed them up but then how could it of when it was live?

Twitter is full of total bellends though mate. Half the people commenting don't even like Beady Eye. Period.
Sounding good to me anyway.

Liam's very croaky and Gem's horrible backing vocals are mixed far too high. It's also a pretty pish song, there's better ones they could have played - Beatles And Stones would have been a good choice.
