I'm kinda dreading Jools Holland now, if Liam sounds like he did last night on that (which he probably will) then its gonna be a painful performance to watch. Across The Universe was definitely a nice touch to finish last night though, something special for the occasion I guess. He tends to sing more (not shout) when performing at tv/radio compared to on stage though IMO. We will see......

I can't be the only one to think it's one of the most boring Beatles songs out there?

I can't be the only one to think it's one of the most boring Beatles songs out there? It's in my top 3 Beatles songs personally. Everyone has a different taste though.

I can't be the only one to think it's one of the most boring Beatles songs out there? Writer of the the best Beatles book ever Ian MacDonald says the same in his book Revolution in the head.

It's a class song. Not too sure about Liam's vocals, maybe it comes across different on the radio. I hope so because they don't sound up to his recent form.

Of course his voice sounds like poo, it was the last song of the set!! It is really hard to sing for an hour and maintain quality sounds the whole time.

That live performance was shocking.
As for the song itself, I love it.
Mind you, I detest the Let It Be version where Phil Spector ruined it big time - mind you he ruined The Long And Winding Road also... and the whole of that album basically. Paul McCartney was rightly raging over the way he produced that album.

Well I was listening to it live at xfm and all I can say is when they said they'd play another song after SOTS I got really nervous because I knew it'd be a big surprise... but I just didn't expect so much. When they started playing ATU I bursted into tears. Yes, Liam can do better (he's been singing ridiculously good during this tour), but it was still devastatingly beautiful in my opinion. (edited just to add that I think ATU is one of the most beautiful songs ever written and it's one of Liam's favorites too I think. He once said that ATU taught him how to sing.

Finally downloaded it.
I like it. Not keen on the vocals but considering it was rushed and is for a good cause, I'm all for it.

It was pure pain listening to that. What the fuck happened to his voice? It's DBTT/DOYS-tour all over again... he sounded really good at the beginning of this tour.

Looks like the honeymoon period with Liam's voice is over. LOL

That was horrible to listen to. Hope he doesn't sound like that on Jools Holland or he is going to get slated. Sounds a lot better on the studio version thankfully.

Some of the posts have been absurd...don't you think? I don't think he sound that much worse than other nights. A bit yeah...but everyone seems in a big hurry to toss him under the bus now. It doesn't take much does it? Just find it amusing when the tone of the board turns on a dime.

He wasn't as bad as most of the DOYS tour, but i thought Across the Universe sounded really really bad. I think the criticism is justified. I think people basically abandoning ship and thinking his voice is going to shit for the rest of the tour are a bit out of line and jumping the gun - but ATU was pretty shit to my ears.

His voice wasn't great last night. But I actually saw someone say "Liam's voice has jumped the shark." Seriously people, lets wait for the next few gigs before thinking about writing him off. I just found it funny that any criticism of Liam's voice was sharply reprimanded prior to this gig...then all of a sudden *bang* it all changes and the negativity is everywhere.

Heres the video
I like at the end where he walks into the crowd a bit to leave. You do that when you just blew the roof off the place with an amazing performance not when you just performed liek that

Regardless of what's one's opinion about the quality of the performance last night the fact is the audience was well appreciating the show and the roof was very much blown off Brixton Academy, so to say. The atmosphere was amazing.

I can't be the only one to think it's one of the most boring Beatles songs out there? I never really noticed it until reading somewhere that it's Liam's favorite song of all time. Wouldn't be in my Beatles top 20, but it's still nice having BDI cover their idols.
