A US Fans view of the band (from another forum ... Ok, here is the thing about Oasis and America. 1. They don't get any airplay here. Ok that's first and foremost. Yeah every so often a rock radio station will play their music, but that's far and between. The general mainstream radio stations who used to play songs like Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger, don't play thier new songs. 2. We as Americans have seen an act like LIam's before. His name was Axel Rose. He acted like an ass, was always getting into trouble and was always acting like a first class brat. Liam in the US eyes is no different then he is. Americans tend to not like a bunch of show offs when it comes to rock stars. 3. You think the Beates are sacred in England? That's nothing comapred to here. And when Noel made the statement that they would be bigger then the Beatles that was the kiss of death for them here in the States. The biggest population comes from the Beatles listening generation. If you don't have their ear, you are missing out on a huge market. 4. The music atmosphere here in the States isn't very condusive to a basic rock n roll band as it once was. If Oasis were around in the mid 70's they would have made it here. But most of the people listening to the radio have such a short attention span, and they need something else to go along with the music (like sex symbols and girls barely wearing any clothes) that if the music doesn't have any type of 'gimmick' to it, it doesn't sell 5. Yes, the tour of '96 was an awful one for them. Cancelling shows, Liam not showing up for the first few gigs when he woudln't get on the plane. The MTV Unplugged fiasco..depsite that I think it's actually a gem in the Oasis history, MTV made such a big stink about Liam not being there. They nearly didn't air it here in the States that's how upset MTV was about it. 6. This notion that they sell out all their US dates is fine. But what are the sizes of these places? Maybe 5,000 people? They aren't selling out 75,000 people at Giants Stadium like they do in England. I think that was the point of the original question. And, let's face it. Liam comes off as a stand offish, boorish little punk. And most Americans don't like that. I've always said that if Noel would do a solo career and really focus here in the States, he'd be a bigger hit by himself, then Oasis ever was
