Ouch! The Australian Record Industy Association Chart released last Sunday shows Beady Eye making a less than stellar debut at number eighteen.
I predicted a mid teens debut and with no love for BE on the radio here, you couldn't expect much more. Don't know what that equates to for first week sales figures but it could be as minimal as a couple of thousand or less. Don't expect a tour here anytime soon...
DOYS debuted at Number Five with the same lack of radio play but the Oasis name was enough to bump it up. Expect DGSS to be out of the top thirty by next week.
Noel should hopefully fare better with his record when he releases it in 2020...

Well, not when a fuckin Glee soundtrack album is Number One on the Australian charts- appallingly insipid cover versions of what, for the most part, were ordinary songs to begin with. But that was last week...
This week, The Strokes storm the charts and land at Number One with their latest album Angles, pushing Glee to Number Two. Elbow hold steady from last week moving from Number 17 down only spot to Number 18 with Build A Rocket Boys! Some band called Beady Eye were Number 18 with an album called Different Gear, Still Speeding. Where did they end up you might ask? Well, second week and they AREN'T EVEN IN THE TOP 50!... Different Gear, Still Tanking Down Under.
Such noble artists as Weird Al Yankovic, Neil Diamond and yes, a SECOND Glee album are all still bobbing on the surface of a sea of turgid shite. Even Kings of Leon with a weeks old record are still around in the Top 50. Beady Eye haven't so much sunk to the bottom as all but been obliterated. No radio play and no love for scone thrower Liam Gallagher= an album that has less legs than a yellow bellied black snake. With little exaggeration, it was probably only the Australian members of Live4Ever that bought Different Gear, Still Speeding. This epic sales fail will almost certainly mean no tour down under. Book your plane tickets people, "I'm comin up uuu up uu uppp!'

^^well time will tell there was talk of Big Day Out..if they came Id imagine theyd be on the small stages..
so yeah id rather they didnt come down under..or they just played their own small shows in thetres you know..rather than being in a crowd of passers by at the BDO who might be pissed up shouting for Wonderwall cos they recognize liam and/or the voice
its bad news in NZ for chart positioning as well..it was 35 and I cant be arsed going on the site looking if its in the top 500
quite frankly does it matter..I know DGSS is the top 3 albums this year..the others will be released by Noel G and Brother

I hope they do play the Big Day Out. They would be playing on the Green Stage if they are and this is the best stage to see artists, a good and intimate stage that can hold large crowds as well. Last two years on that stage Temper Trap and Primal Scream were amazing!
