TLA is a great little venue! For those who have never been there...its basically like a movie theater with no seats on the floor. There is an upstairs balcony area (i think you have to be 21 to get up there) with seats along the railing and some standing room too. The venue is on South Street which means there is plenty of food/bar options right beside the venue for pre or post show partying. I'm SO happy beady eye picked TLA over electric factory! And philly over boston is an obvious choice for many reasons!

Or is that specified by different ticket prices?....I know the 930 Club in DC is first come first serve, which is really nice: Get there early and you get a fantastic view, all for one set price.

for all the TLA shows ive been to its been general admission (first come, first serve).
but in all honesty, Ive stood at the VERY back by the soundboard and had a fantastic view and its definitely loud enough in there. there really isn't a bad spot in the place.
like i said above, the floor kinda slants down like a movie theater so people in the back are SLIGHTLY higher than the front row providing EVERYONE a great view.
now if you are interested in sitting in the upstairs bar area with seats along the railing...you probably need to get in there pretty early. those fill up the fastest. however, I would suggest just hanging in a bar until showtime because there isn't a bad view in the entire venue.

TLA is a standing room only venue aside from the balcony. Its basically a slightly larger Bowery Ballroom. Once in a while these type of places will do seated shows, but they're rare as fuck and usually for things like comedy or acoustic gigs. Even then it will be implicitly stated its seated. There is no "level" of ticket pricing. Its one price, first come, first serve. Even when these places do seated shows, its first come first serve.
$50 is highway fucking robbery for a headliner thats not going to go longer than 90 minutes.

$37.50 isn't a bad price to see the remnants of your favorite band in a very intimate setting. The highway robbery part comes from the $12.50 that's tacked on for processing fees. WTF is up with that? I'm going. Most likely by myself seeing as I can't rally any supporters around the cause. Going to be a bitch to get to as I live in the immediate suburbs, but whatever. Need to make up for the time I saw Oasis with the cheapest seats possible. Time to be in the middle of the action

Is that 9pm doors? Or is that 9pm the band will be on?
Need to know, as atm I'm planning on taking the regional rail to Market East (and walking from there -20min walk, not too bad), and the last train to depart is at 11.25pm which could be cutting it close.....

(unless you NEED to be in the very front row)...as I said above, the TLA is a really small venue. even if you are at the VERY back, you'd still be pretty close with a great view. The TLA doesn't oversell tickets either which means there is usually a good amount of room to move around without being on top of other people.

WTF is up with that? No. $37.50 is a terrible price for a band with only one album, regardless of venue. It'd be one thing if this was Oasis. Its not. And you may as well just call the fees part of the ticket price since the majority of people pay them. I paid whatever the price was for Webster Hall, so its hypocritical of me to say otherwise, nor would I try to deter anyone from going. Its just shitty on the promoters part charging this high with the foreknowledge that the gig isnt really going to be very long or have much depth setlist wise.

As long as they think people will buy the ticket, they will over charge as much as possible. And why not? That's capitalism at work.....

I go to 2 to 3 gigs per week and the majority are fairly priced. This one is not. They obviously dont care about that in regards to this particular tour. Its clearly a consideration in respect to other acts.

$37.50 = ~£23 Cheaper than in UK, and considering they're flying over and all... (and £20 for a new act who is expected to pull 1000-2000 people audience is not that rare price in London at least)
How much you gotta pay all sorts of fees in US? (here it's like £2-4 box office fees and £3-6 shipping usually)
What sort of ticket prices other UK bands playing in US have?

Surcharges on tickets can be upwards of 1/3 of the actual ticket price. Actually buying from the box office negates any surcharges.
To compare: Echo & The Bunnymen and Arctic Monkey tickets are both cost me $30, Friendly Fires were $15. All of these were without surcharges, so $35 for Beady Eye isn't that bad. Echo and Friendly Fires are at a 750 capacity club, Arctic Monkeys at a House of Blues (2000+ capacity)
