big statement seeing as your lot havn't actually won anything this season yet, could all go tits up for you yet True, but if we won the treble with a 6-0 demolition of Barcelona I doubt we'd receive even half of the attention that's been lavished upon the likes of Gareth Bale and Jack Wilshere this season. They'd call us lucky or something. Or spend the next fortnight trying to get Wayne Rooney banned for scoring a goal with the wrong foot.

i actually think they banned rooney for the elbow a few weeks earlier, they had a chance and they went for it Point is that folk have been falling over themselves to bestow lavish praise on undeserving recipients, and yet as we enter the last six weeks of the season its United who are top of the league, United who are in the semi-finals of two cup competitions, United who are in contention for another treble. A month ago people were talking up Tottenham's chances of winning the Champions League. Two months ago people were talking up Arsenal's chances of winning a quadruple. And all the while they were calling us the unconvincibles. It could end in tears, granted, but the fact that we're in this position at all tells you that there are qualities about this United side that have, thus far, gone undetected or disregarded by most.

Praise for Bale has been deserverd as he really came to prominance at the back end of last season and continued at the start of this season then injury got in the way. Wilshere for someone so young has been brilliant for Arsenal which can't be denied. What you need to remember is the media love a 'darling' and when 1 comes along they stick with it normally trying to engineer a transfer out of it

Oh I know that. I'll stand by what I've said though. The idea that Gareth Bale is one of the favourites for footballer of the year is preposterous given some of the absentees from that list, and though Wilshere's done well at Arsenal he's achieved sod all yet. I don't know how anyone can justify the comparisons that have already been made between he and Paul Scholes. For goodness' sake, people were saying the same thing about Jack Rodwell this time last year. It's obscene. Anyone can have a good season. It's why Manchester City paid £22m for Joleon Lescott.

yeah... you like soccer but I don't think you understand it. and it's "football". yeah, i understand soccer completely. but i'm american. i like fast pace - attack aggressively defense with an emphasis on offense(attacking), meaning not standing around. go get the fucking ball - trap, double team, triple team, get the ball. i'm sorry, Lionel Messi's great and all but he's not dribbling around four people. and he MIGHT pass around them half the time but probably not.

you're thinking about basketball. there's no way to keep that rhythim in a 105x70m pitch. Barça played a fantastic game today, crushing their rival. and I'm not even a Barcelona nor Messi fan.

Not trying to be flippant - Americans like high scores, and don't care about strategy. For me, a 0-0 can be full of entertainment, as it has you on the edge of your seat throughout.....

and don't get me wrong, i like soccer(yeah, i call it soccer, get over it.),i just don't like the slow, unattacking, but 'for the better' defensive strategy.
and by the way, i prefer Wayne Rooney to Lionel Messi. because of Rooney's overall awareness and passing. Messi's plays with too much of a score 'first' mentality for me, with his head down.

But you don't mind the constant pitching changes? And the constant time outs in every American sport? Americans found a way to turn an hours game (American Football) into 3 hours. Congrats on watching two hours worth of ads. At least 'soccer' is continual, for the most part.
