I prefer Noel's, It is too high for Liam and he sounds strained the whole way through on the b-side recording.

Is it just me or has Liam's popularity really grown since DGSS?

Of course...same as everyone in BDI just check the fave Oasis drummer poll...meanwhile we are all slightly bitter @ Noel for not giving us new music.

Liam's voice on it is untouchable. Though the newer arrangement of the song is very touching and clean.
But I'll go with Liam

I'll admit Liam's vocal is pretty powerful but it just seems to rough for the kind of song that it is. I wish they'd recorded it in the Morning Glory sessions, with strings and a cleaner Liam vocal. Liam's Definitely Maybe era voice doesn't do the song justice imo.

Noel's version is brilliant - a lot more wistful but the Liam version absolutely nails it.
Very powerful vocals on the b-side and easily one of his best vocal performances ever. Plus there's that awesome guitar solo. More immediate than Noel's version and hits you harder without losing any of the emotion.
It is no easy decision but I really do think this is the best song Oasis ever did.

I think it all comes down to, if it had been recorded as Noel's version, would it ever stick in my head like the Liam version does. For me, it's a no!

Liam version.....recorded in that 3 year period where Liam's voice was at a peak. So powerful and yet had that emotion that you just lose yourself in the vocal. It almost sounds like he is about to break down at any moment when he sang those early songs and I love them.
A nod to the Noel version too though, the updated version sounds great and suits him perfectly.

i like noel's version better. see the mtv unplugged performance to find out why. Noel's too harsh on himself with that performance. I thought he did really well, especially considering he was put on the spot. Of course his voice is miles better today (since circa 2006, for that matter), but I was pleased with how he sounded during that MTV show.

(holy shit... how time flies.)
