Final clearout at Maine Road
EIGHTY years of memories have gone under the hammer at Maine Road as hundreds of Manchester City fans said a final farewell to the old stadium. More than 600 lots have been auction off by the club before it moves to the new 48,000-seat City of Manchester stadium.
Items sold off included pieces of turf, the door to manager Kevin Keegan's office and a mahogany director's table. It is expected that many of the bidders will come from overseas while it is rumoured Oasis star Noel Gallagher will try to snap up some of the lots.
