I gave it a listen...it's a damn fine record. First time in ages I've loved an album that's @ the top of the charts in ages!
I know that it's not the typical fare of those on this board...but someone started a thread for Kanye West or whoever a bit ago so I thought screw it.
Anyone else listen?

I did just to see why is the fuss all about. I wouldn't put any of the songs in my ipod, but at least she is doing a kind of music with much more quality and passion than Jessie J or whatever. Besides, when an artist (independently of what kind of music he/she does) writes his own material, I tend to entirely respect their work. This is the case. Good for her

Get "I Speak Because I Can" by Laura Marling - it hasn't left my car stereo since it came out last April.

I listened to 21 the other day and was really impressed. I like her voice, she has a few Amy Winehouse things in her, hopefully only the good ones ;D

Rolling in the deep is one of my most played songs at the moment. I really love it. Not heard the rest of the album though tbh, the other song thats on the radio is a bit drab.

the most important solo artist around You, sir, are 100% right. Her stuff is on a par with early Neil Young - and I never thought I'd say that about anyone. the fact that she just turned 21 is amazing. She has so much potential. Adele on the other hand at least is bringing in some soul and classiness to mainstream pop music.

i heard her album about a week ago for the very first time, and holy shit. i swear she must be the offspring of dusty springfield and janis joplin. no 21 year old should have a voice like that. she has so much soul; so emotive. rick rubin did a fantastic job with the record.

I've been on the Adele bandwagon since 19 came out. When I heard Chasing Pavements off that that first album, I knew that she could possibly hit the big time. I heard 21, literally within a few hours of it being released in the UK (illegally of course ;p).
But yeah, been an Adele fan from the very beginning. Love to see artist that I've paid attention to from the beginning, make it. She deserves it. She's just immensely talented.
